Bad troll. Flash is /easy/ to install. Download it and copy it to

Works fine on my AMD Athlon X2 too.
Flash 10 is a resource hog though. On the AMD 'doorstop' Duron 900 I
had to go back to flash 9 to get smooth playback (even windowed).
I think it's amazing how flash 9 plays regular sized flash videos fine
on that machine, but flash 10 simply chokes. Brilliant developers at
adobe's...

And this is Linux' fault exactly how? Adobe's proprietary Flash plugin is
the cause of any CPU load problems in this particular area, and apparently,
Adobe can't be bothered to fix it.

Well, then, you've got to be a "liar." Because in flatline--- logic, Linux

How do you deal with websites you come across that insist on having
flash installed? On FreeBSD I use the dummyflash plugin to fool
websites into thinking I have flash installed.
On my Debian box I block all flashcontent by default with the
FlashBlock add-on. It makes browsing the web a much nicer experience
:-)
--
Questionable day.
Ask somebody something.
Hi Tom,
I totally agree. FlashBlock is indispensable. That little add-on spares me
the annoyance of seeing a gazillion stupid adverts. Since I am a certified
Freetard, you can imagine how happy that makes me. ;) And all it takes is
one little click and I can see what content is hiding behind that little
FlashBlock arrow. It's really a great find.

Another great way of reducing adverts is adding the list available
from http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/ to your hosts file. It is
originally meant to avoid getting infested with malware/adware from
those sites when you're on a windows machine. You can install
apache/lighttpd and redirect all requests to an empty /index.html on
localhost.

My dear Ga-gary
A good Freetard reveals ALL. I hide nothing.
1. If you have the mentality slightly in excess of that of a sea slug, Flash
takes about 15 seconds to install. You plop libflashplayer.so into the
correct folder and you're done. Is that really beyond the mental range of
98.2% of Windows users? If I made such a claim our friends would call me a
LYING LIENUX LIAR. And they would be entirely justified in doing so.
2. I run Debian Squeeze (testing) on a desktop (I don't fancy laptops) with
FFx 3.5.2 and the Flash 10 player. If I run a flash video and then press
the fullscreen button, FFX crashes. It crashes the first time, it crashes
every time. I reveal ALL and hide nothing - all the puss filled pimples of
Gnu/Linux are exposed to the world. I thought that maybe I was being
punished for being a bad Freetard so I downloaded opera9 installed it and
fired up Youtube (Opera spotted the Flash plugin without being told
anything ... it just worked) - sorry DFS I'm doing my best here, but it's
hard. The moment of truth! I click the fullscreen button and ... it just
works and it works ... perfectly.
3. Hoping to set the record straight, I asked my GF to try it out on her
ancient Acer (running pretty much the same setup as me except she uses
KDE4.2 and the 2.6.30 kernel. I use 3.5 and 2.6.26, respectfully. So off
she goes. Her youtube video is up and running. She presses the fullscreen
button and ... arrggghhh it works perfectly. That's soooooo unfair. It just
works. Sorry again, DFS.
I don't know why my Firefox crashes but since I don't watch videos in
fullscreen anyway (or if I do, I download and watch them (fullscreen) with
mplayer, I'm not really motivated to look hard for a solution. My guess
would be that it has something to do with the 64 gazillion plugins and
extensions I have running on FFx but I'm not really fussed.
I hope this true confession will convince the sceptics once and for all that
NO ONE IS CLAIMING THAT GNU/LINUX IS PERFECT. It's good enough for me and
better than anything else I've ever tried.
Truthfully yours,
It is a *very* freetardian thing to do. No adverts means no
uncontrollable urge to buy stuff. Infringement is only a step away.

You guys seem to be confused about what a freetard is.
A freetard is someone who takes but does not give back.
They put them up in a fashion that they can't be blocked by the hosts
files, too.
I also took the opportunity to look. No blocking of MICROS~1 sites
either. Maybe because they assume Windummies might need to spend hours
and days looking for help fixing their billy boxes. Just the same:
sudo echo "127.0.0.1 microsoft.com" >> /etc/hosts
It gets a beutiful blank page now.
Freetardery is fun!

All generalizations are false, including this one.

Sometimes you need to add extra entries or disable reverse lookup for
certain apps. I can't remember the exact details but reverse lookup is
often the cause of slow connections - especially for hosts added to
hosts. *shrug*.
Dns lookups go through a dns server, forward and reverse. The hosts
file doesn't interfere with that afaik. If you start playing tricks with
your bind9 server and don't configure your zone files properly, shit
can hit the fan though.

And not a *single* example of what you claim to be trying to show - an
example of my lying.
Not one example.
130 failures from High Plains Thumper.
You are a complete and total failure... and you spew volumes of rubbish to
try to run from that fact. But, by now, *everyone* know you are a complete
and utter failure, a pathetic waste of space online.
And you will lash out more. As will your lowest-of-the-low buddy Carroll...
the only question is which one of you will have the bigger breakdown as your
failures are shoved in your faces.
Frankly, I bet Carroll. Your anger is general, his is specific... while his
consumption with anger is focused on me (really, himself, but related to an
event he absurdly blames me for), your anger is just general - you are angry
at the whole world. Well, really, you are angry at yourself for being so
incompetent and miserable of a person, but you lash out in all directions.
Still, I am shoving your BS in your face enough and letting you know what a
failure you are in such clear terms, that just might push you over the edge
to a breakdown.
It shall be interesting to watch. I still bet Carroll breaks down first,
but you just might surprise me.

Oh, you are heading for a break down... look at how you obsessively spew
nonsense - volumes and volumes of nonsense - just to *try* (and fail) to
hide the fact your efforts to show me doing as you say have failed.
Pathetically failed.
Face it... you are heading for a break down... you are heading to completely
losing it. It shows in your posts. And, being that you lash out so badly
against myself and others, I shall just laugh as you break down over your
own failures.
LOL! Yeah, you think it is a "lie" to say Carroll will breakdown first.

You are getting closer to your break down. Maybe Carroll will not crumble
first.
Anyone want to place bets?

If you're a small minded arse not on a fixed rate dsl line I can
understand it.
Otherwise?
Pah.
err, only if you're on a "lan" with other people googling similar
stuff. e.g If you were on the same lan as, I dont know, Marti, then I
doubt you would get many "clashes" on the the cache ...
In general most people at home needn't worry too much.
Flash ads tend to be totally superfluous and bring web-pages to nearly
screeching halts.
So, unless you actually want to see some flash content, you are better off
without that garbage

You're genuinely bogus.

Q: How many IBM CPU's does it take to do a logical right shift?
A: 33. 1 to hold the bits and 32 to push the register.
Sure... they are annoying, but on what page do they bring things to a
screeching halt?

Not a problem on this 64-bit machine. But what a waste of screen space:

It depends on the cache policy. Me? Don't need it really to be honest.
What do you mean how long?
High Plains Thumper has obviously already experienced a mental
breakdown of some sort.
Hopefully he gets the help he needs.

You really should sit back and take a good look at the nonsense
you spew, HPT.
You're ranting like a loony toon.
I have been pushing back against he, Carroll, and Sandman as they have been
"co-trolling".
I am wondering who will have a breakdown first... I am guessing Carroll, but
HPT might. I doubt Sandman will... I think he might actually believe the
nonsense he spews. HPT and Carroll clearly do not.

He is clearly mentally unwell and imploding as we speak... but I think he is
heading to the type breakdown that Carroll has repeatedly had.

No, Rick. This isn't about a definition, which is subject to interpretation
as you point out; this is about Hadron calling me, Attila, before I took on
my current title, a freetard. If someone says to you, Rick, "Get a clue,
noodly-poop." They are calling you, Rick, a noodly-poop. The definition, of
course, will determine whether your are upset or not about being addressed
as a noodly-poop.
I decided that Freetard must be a good thing based on who uses it and how.
So I am grateful to Hadron for pointing out that I, Attila, am one.
As for calming down, I am always calm, calculating and laughing. But thanks
for your concern. ;)

it against their will. ;)
I'm pretty sure that if you stop gobbling on like a mother Hen and
trying to be so nice to everyone you will find I took you OFF the
Freetard list because you DO give something back...
