except some of the wealthy and ALL of their Republican STOOGES!

"...As for taxes, just yesterday, CBS News released a poll that found
just a quarter of respondents wanted tax cuts for everyone, while 53
percent wanted tax cuts extended for just families hauling in less than
$250,000 per year. A smaller group, 14 percent, want the Bush tax cuts
ended for everyone, and hey, at least those people are deficit hawks
worthy of the name, unlike the Republicans now in Congress. And here's
the real kicker: Just 46 percent of Republicans polled, less than half,
want tax cuts extended for everyone. That represents a plurality of
Republicans, with 41 percent wanting just the middle class cuts, but if
the Republicans in Congress aren't even carrying out the will of the
majority of their base, and far from the will of the American people at
large, just who the hell are they catering to?..."

(The repubs claimed the demos were wrong not to listen to the opinion
polls last summer, now the shoes are juxtaposed. Will the republicans be
swayed by the lack of even a majority of republican support for higher
deficits out here in the hinterlands?)

Why do you, of all people, even care about all this blather.

The regime in Washington is totally illegal and has no right to tax
anyone whatsoever. Surely you are aware of this.

I occasionally drift into the real world. Democracy is of course long
dead and buried. Major trauma will ensue before we can successfully
re-animate its stinking carcass. A lot of serious re-prioritization
needs to happen. People are way too casual about this stuff.

BTW: I like black people. I think they are as capable as anyone and
deserve respect like everyone.

Democracy isn't desirable anyway. But those who want to try it
should be able to.

I'd like devolved, smaller, kinship-based societies, but with lots
of choices for those who find a particular form of government
intolerable and need someplace to go. Confederations for mutual
defense might be necessary.

My choice would be a kinship-based society with a strictly limited
representative government and strictly limited franchise so that the
wisest and most thoughtful and knowledgeable would be the vast
majority of the electorate.

But mass democracy? No. There really can never be such a thing, at
least as its advocates promote it. I mean, just _look_ at the
majority of people. Look at them _close up_, in places where they
like to gather, like Wal-Mart. Taken as a whole, they are never
going to be able to even govern themselves, much less a society.
They will always be the pawns of knaves who want to buy their votes
with other people's money.

>
> BTW: I like black people. I think they are as capable as anyone and

I agree that all races deserve respect -- and deserve to survive as
independent entities.

I am not sure what you mean by "as capable as anyone," since
individuals and races both vary widely in the things they're good
at. Black people are certainly better at racial loyalty and unity
than White people. They are also better at sprinting, boxing, quick
verbal reactions, and a number of other things. Europeans are better
at some things, too. Like astrophysics and medicine.

You might believe that because I've advocated for White people, that
somehow I don't respect other races. But you'd be wrong. My respect
goes considerably further than the phony respect the establishment
promotes. I don't think White people should govern non-White people
-- ever. Or the reverse. I don't think we should be murdering the
non-White peoples of the Middle East or setting up puppet
governments in their countries -- and I was one of the first to
speak out against this. And I don't think the regime in Washington
should be setting up an economic/military empire to control and rule
over non-Whites in cooperation with Zionist billionaires.

With all good wishes,

In 2008 the top 10% of earners paid 70% of all federal taxes.
The top 25% of earners paid 86% of all federal taxes.
Is it really your contention they should pay more?

Just to show how unequal the tax burden is, the bottom 50% of earners paid
a measly
2.7% of federal taxes.

I'll say it again 50% of tax payers only paid 2.7% of all federal taxes
paid.

From http://www.taxfoundation.org/news/show/250.html
Also the top 50% pay 97.3% of Federal taxes
The bottom 50% pay 2.7% of federal taxes.
Same Chart.
What percentage of those in the bottom 50% would you think put
zero effort on moving out of the bottom?
My guess is that is a high number. I don't think a lot of people think about
their financial future. I'm convinced that lack of wealth is a temporary
condition,
a health problem or a lack of mental training.
Some families or cultures are just expected to do well and the children are
raised
to think that way. The schools need to teach this thought process.
But then, somebody's got to be in the bottom 50%!

I generally don't trust random figures thrown into a conversation. I
know that they possess 90 something percent of the income so paying 86%
of taxes seems a little low.

I have nothing against people amassing huge amounts of money for sport,
they have that right. But ultimately, that karma needs to be cleansed,
so tax heavily above a reasonable amount, and use the money for great
public works. That is the American way (or was prior to Reagan's
revolution against all things American).

Potential for upward mobility is virtually non-existent right now. The
banksters have taken 30 trillion dollars and fled to Dubai. The house of
cards has collapsed. It's over. The banks are broke. The country is
broke. The only people who have any money today are the thieves who
stole it.

Then, all the Democrats would have to do is to make them permanent.
That's all they've ever had to do. If protecting citizens from this
sunset was their goal, the Democrats could have done it 20 months ago,
when they had a super majority in both houses of Congress.

They didn't.

By allowing the near-endless "economic expansion" required by the
finance-capitalist system (the system, that is, of having the banks
create all our money) we have all despoiled our own nests to some
extent.

But, having said that, I invite the reader to contemplate Zurich
versus Mexico City; or Rutland versus Detroit; or Florence versus
Harare -- or for that matter, Salisbury (Harare's former name)
during independence versus Harare today. There is a difference.

The primitive as it really is, Dave, is no better; in fact, it is so
much worse that its stench is unbelievable. (Now, if you are
advocating a primitive society composed of Thoreau and his kin, that
would be a different matter. Alaska, and other parts of rural
America where the Third Worlders haven't made a big impact yet, is
like that in some ways.)

It will take advanced minds to solve the problems that are inherent
to life on Earth and human societies, _not_ more primitive minds. It
will probably take more advanced minds than even exist today.

So making sure that such minds continue to exist -- and exist with
greater powers and in greater numbers in the future -- is our most
urgent need.

Making sure that somebody's "baby mama" has enough "benefits" so she
can run on up to the Burger King today -- which, in practical terms,
is exactly what "income redistribution" accomplishes -- should not
only _not_ be a societal priority, but taking away the precious
resources of our families to accomplish it should be regarded as an
ignoble crime.

With every good wish,

Kevin.

They can't. GOP is filibustering.

GOP wants billionaires not to pay what they used to. They try to fault
Dems for Bush's own error.

Yep. Iron-clad truth. Bush's tax cuts had an expiration in 2011. He
signed it, it's his doing that they are going up for the middle class.
Dems are trying to stop that but Restupidcans won't allow it.

That in itself is a prime example of rightard lies. It is undeniable
that the bush tax cuts contained a sunset. Taxes are going up because
of Bush. Dems are trying to preserve middle class tax cuts and the GOP
says NO!! GOP says "RAISE TAXES for the middle class!!"

Undeniable FACT.

Convenient denial of the past 20 months.

If the Dems had wanted to spare the middle class this tax hike, they
had super majorities in both houses, and two chamber leaders who have
demonstrated no problem with skirting the rules.

They could have. They didn't.

Simple. They don't want to.

So is the fact that with a super majority in both houses, and
the White House, they could have done this at will, at any time within
the last 20 months.

That they're so 'concerned' about it now is a joke.

Actually, they have.

Both Pelosi and Reid suspended the rules to preclude posting of the
healthcare bill for the required 72 hours prior to the vote in the
middle of the night.

They suspended the rules to hold closed door 'debates' on the issue,
to preclude opposition debate.

The GOP has not actually fillibustered much. The dems are basing a
lot of their inability to pass anything on the simple threat of a
fillibuster. In other words they use the excuse to not even try.
BTW, a 60 vote majority is effectively fillibuster proof.
Even if the Republicans were to attempt to fillibuster the dems still
have the voting power to approve anything regardless.
So the dems just throw their hands up and cry fillibuster and give up
and you want to blame the party that had no power.
Typical

That is of course a lie. The GOP has blocked everything that is good
for the middle class in order to extort for the rich. FACT that cannot
be ignored.

The bill is up for vote RIGHT NOW, kook. GOP is AGAINST tax cuts for
the middle class. They voted AGAINST it.

Suspension of the rules is one of the allowed rules, fuckwit.

They learned from the GOP, which has never obeyed a rule.

That's pretty far fetched, Pete. The Senate rules are wacky. Any single

Hopefully they'll do a rules change on % January and shut that freak

Who ever disagreed with that? That's among the root causes of the GOP

You won't get any argument from me about Bush's spending. But, pick
your poison. Was is tax cuts that caused the recession or borrow and
spending? If you claim that it's tax cuts then you better be prepared
to admit that the bulk of the "cost" is attributed to those under
$250K. You also need to remember who held the purse strings during
Bush's term. For the life of me I can't figure out why the dems
didn't stop him. Well, actually I do. And, you are proving it right
here for everyone to see (i.e. borrow and spend, then blame everyone
except themselves).

Good point. Unemployment plummetted, the market rebounded. The
deficit fell below 14 figures. The dollar spiked against the yen.
And nearly two years out, with billions in slush funds spent, we're
exactly where we were 22 months ago. Yes, Excellent work.

Wow. How did I miss that.

Even AWOL acknowledged his fuck-ups when he turned it over to

Of course. The depth of the Bush/GOP Recession has been unlike any
other. When it comes to destroying economies, you fuck-ups are the
best! Hint: Bone up on economics, kooker. If Obama hadn't spent most
of the stimulus act on useless tax cuts that don't stimulate like
direct spending, we'd be even further from the Bush Basement.

Yes, I see that. Which is why unemployment hit double digits
during the last two years, but topped out at 4.5% during the
previous 8. That's why the market tanked in the last two years, and
is only now where it in the 90's. And why the deficit tripled in the
first 5 months of Obama's presidency, and has only grown since.

You know, sitting here at 22 months since the election, you can't
blame Bush for the economy. A recession only lasts a couple of
months, historically, before it starts to grow. With full recovery
in 16 months. The only time that's not been true, is when Roosevelt
got involved in economic matters, and spent the treasury back to
cobwebs. And a depression resulted that lasted more than a decade.
Sound familiar?

Economists, my friend (and you'd know this if you'd actually
studied Economics, yourself) have been saying since 1931, that had
Roosevelt simply sat back and let matters right themselves in 1929,
that the recession would have be been severe, but over in less than
a year. Instead, it dragged on and deepened to a depression because
of the massive spending, accompanied by the massive tax increases.

Does any of this sound familiar?

Had Obiteme kept his mits off the economy, and stopped his
hammering of the people who actually create jobs, this economic
downturn would have been over in the summer and we'd be looking at a
fat and happy Christmas goose.

You may wish to consider boning up on economics, yourself, there,
Bubba.

Government spending does nothing for the economy. Nothing. It
demands higher taxation, which does nothing for the economy.
Nothing. And it's inflationary. Which does nothing for the economy.

And since you're so concerned with facts, consider this, also.
Obama, himself, in the first 45 days of his presidency, said during
one of his speeches, that the economic malaise was EXPECTED to last
beyond our lifetimes. And that changes being made would bear fruit
only for future generations. But that we, and our children would not
see relief from this economy during our lifetimes. Such is the
nature of sacrifice.

So before you canonize this guy and his pack of raiders, consider
that all of this economic turmoil is by choice, if not design, and
that it could have been over months ago.

And the party in power is the Democrat Party. With
supermajorities in both houses of Congress.

And to get back to the point of this thread, if they can pass
Health Care in the middle of the night, without the Republicans, in
the first year of their power, they could easily have passed the
extension of these tax rates in the middle of the night, without the
Repubicans at any time in the last two years.

They didn't.

Because they didn't want to.

Maybe we ought to hang Greenspan for creating the mortgage / insider

The only entity that benefits at all from tax hikes is the government.
Your repetitive argument that higher taxes result in a better life for

You idiots' credibility on the matter got shot to hell when you fell

You're the one that appears to be projecting. And you referring to
all that do not agree with you as being traitors shows your complete
hatred of a large portion of the population. Not a sign of a stable

Funny, but I listened to Rush for years, mostly just to catch his
latest rant. I NEVER heard him say anything about the United States
that even remotely hinted at his love for America or that he likes
living here.He was always angry, always picking through the news to
disparage, insult and condemn people, and never had anything positive
to say. Now, there are sound indications that he likes Costa Rican
whores, but he doesn't talk about it, and we know that he likes drugs.
He drove himself deaf with them. But love America? He's like a guy who
berates his wife in public then insists he loves her. He doesn't. He
hates America and he despises his listeners, is grossly manipulative,
and thinks you're all idiots. He does love money, though, or at least
what it can buy,

Two months, then fell below. Much much better than the First Great
Republican Recession that Reagan caused in '81-'82 when unemployment
topped 10 percent for a full 10 months. Hint: The rate STAYED ABOVE 10
percent for six months afyer the official end of the Reagan Recession,
and Reagan's poll numbers were lower than Obama's. Deservedly since
unlike Obama who inherited the Great Bush/GOP Recession, Reagan's was
all his own.

> but topped out at 4.5% during the

You're not a very good liar, you know.

AWOL's unemployment rate, even before the recession he started, was at
or below 4.5 percent for only 13 of the 96 months his miserable
incompetent ass was in office.

Are you truly stupid? Don't you know that unemployment rates are
recorded and KEPT in records so that when you lie we can easily prove
it? What a FUCKWIT you are!! BWAHAAHAHAAAA!!!! TOPPED OUT AT 4.5
percent under AWOL? It was only under 4.5 percent for SEVEN of those
13 months!! YOU MUST BE STANDIN' ON YOUR FUCKIN' HEAD and looing at
the chart, since the TRUTH is the opposite of what you claim, as
usual.

> That's why the market tanked in the last two years, and

You REALLY need an edjumacation as your hero would say in economics.
Hint: Recession=lack of spending. Encouraging cuts in federal spending
during a recession is economic suicide, which of course is the natural
result of GOP policies.

Hint: AWOL's decision to wage two budget-busting wars on credit cards
while cutting taxes and conveying our economic future to China seems
to have gone under your radar, traitor.

Hint: Obama SAVED CAPITALISM from GOP malfeasance.

BWAHAHAHAHAAA!!!! Another chronologically challenged revisionist!

HINT: Hoover -- Restupidcan -- was in office when the Great Depression
resulted from a decade of economy-killing GOP policies.

Wow.

Roosevelt took office in 1933 and immediately moved to save America
and capitalism from GOP disaster. Unemployment began falling adn
continued until he agreed in 1937 to cut deficit spending at GOP
urging and caused the mini-recession of 1938. FACT.

Yeah, it's the lies and nutbaggery being sold on Faux News by the
America-hating crowd.

It has been a pleasure kicking your stupid kooker ass as you leave in
defeat. Thank you for giving me a post filled with blatant lies (FDR
president in 1929??? BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAA!!!) that made it sooooooo
easy!

Undeniable TRUTH, kook.

You're not even worth a full reply, you're so stupid.

Ask Bush... it's his tax increase, he signed it. Obama was trying to
preserve it for the middle class and the GOP was opposed.

Really? REALLY? BWAHAHAHAHHAAAA!!!

OK, then produce the cite for FDR being president in 1929, fuzznuts.

BWAHAHHAHAHAAA!

Hint: If the Hoover Depression would have been over in a year from
1929, that would have been THREE YEARS BEFORE FDR took the oath and
SAVED AMERICA from your traitor predecessors.
