Hi,

Thanks for mlo ! When I use this software, I am considering two issues:

1. When I use the function 「insert link to a file 」, it seems ASCII characters are not supported, folder nor filename.

2. I have a habit to write diaries and notes in softwares like evernote, is it possible to open a note with the internal link produced by evernote.

Best Regards

I can’t answer the ASCII issue, but Evernote links work in the Notes space if you type file:<EvernoteLink>.

Hope this helps.

Which ASCII characters are you referring to? Are you referring to DBCS (double-byte) characters?

Also, if you have any difficulty creating Evernote links using Mike's hint, write back and say so and someone will give you step-by-step instructions.

Thanks for your help, now I can open  the evernote links by directly plase the note  in the Note spaces of mlo, however, the default   to open the  link is my brower Chrome , but not evernote.

And When I try to type file:<https://app.yinxiang.com/shard/s32/nl/7076408/023db018-e74a-4d79-86fa-bceb8f1a1dac>, it shows that 「The specified file is not found 」

In fact, the Chinese version of evernote is somewhat  , and the link is something like "https://app.yinxiang.com/shard/s32/nl/7076408/023db018-e74a-4d79-86fa-bceb8f1a1dac",and  I wonder if this makes difference.

Sincerely,

1. As I understand it, there are no Chinese characters in proper Ascii
(American Standard Code for Information Interchange), perhaps you are
referring to the Hanzi section of Unicode which is widely used to
represent. I do not know whether MLO supports Unicode in the Notes
section, if no one on this forum has an answer you should consider
asking MLO support at sup...@mylifeorganized.net

2. Evernote does not support allowing linking into the Evernote app. If
you pull a link to an Evernote note, it provides a URL to a web copy of
the note, and anyone linking to that URL will see the note displayed in
their choice of browser. If you want to be able to bring it up in the
Evernote app you would have to get the Evernote developers to make that
change. (Note: some of the security measures you may have raised on your
Evernote data will not protect the notes that Evernote moves to the web
for linking purposes, so do not use this for sensitive/private data)

3. The brackets "<" and ">" should not be included in the link. Instead of
file:<https://app.yinxiang.com/shard/s32/nl/7076408/023db018-e74a-4d79-86fa-bceb8f1a1dac>
you should enter
file:https://app.yinxiang.com/shard/s32/nl/7076408/023db018-e74a-4d79-86fa-bceb8f1a1dac

Since i read & type chinese, let me try to answer.

in order for the link to work, here are the steps:
01. in Evernote, click & select the notes you want to link.
02. Right click and select "Copy note link" ( i tried it using a note with chinese words as the note title & it works )
03. DO NOT paste directly in MLO notes section. Doing so will only paste the web link, NOT the note link.
04. Create a new note in Evernote & paste the link there. You will see the link looks like this: evernote:///view/86463/s2/.........
05. Select & copy that link.
06. In MLO notes section, type file: then without any space, paste the link into the notes.
07. This way, when u click the link, it will open Evernote, show you where the note is.

Troublesome and involve a lot of steps but it gets what you want. I hope this is helpful.

My suggestion for less troublesome & quicker way to link → just copy and paste your note's title into MLO notes. To find the note on Evernote, just copy the note title in MLO & paste in the Search all function of Evernote. Faster and less troublesome.

Dwight,

Thank you~!

Don't give me the credit. I learned all these from the inputs of many people. I think i have seen this question before and also reply from someone that has the solution.

A quick google search give me these:

There's even an Autohotkey method of auto inset the "file://" into the link.

Thank you !

The sentences I typed was disrupted by a chrome extension ,fortunately you got accross what I said.

This problem has been solved simply by holding the ctrl key and clicking the 「Copy note link」

Another question is I cannot add  a local file link  with Chinese Characters, like 「G:\专业软件\办公软件\diary.txt」 or 「G:\professional software\office\日记.txt」, I will try ~

Thank you again !

Glad that there is a faster way to copy the correct link by holding the CTRL button.

I tried using MLO "Link to file" to link a .jpg with chinese characters as file name. The link is successful but it only open the folder containing the file, NOT the file itself.

I tested again with a file using English alphabets. The link is linked to the file itself. Upon clicking, will opent he file directly. See the attached image for reference.

I think this need to be report to MLO support so they can help you with this issue.

Thank you for your reply. I have contacted Evernote and get an easier way to do this: simply hold down the CTRL key , right click the very note and secleck 「copy the file link 」,then plaste to mlo.

In fact, it's more efficient to set user-defined please with BaiDu Input.

By the way, do you know how to deal with local file links with Chinese characters ?

 Thanks for your tests~

I have found another little trick about evernote :

- if you use a link begin with 「http:」, notes  can be effectively linked to evernote app in my mobile phone, but not so in my computer
- a link begin with [evernote: ], just the oppsiste

so if we want to review notes from mlo to evernote, we should copy both of the links. It seems clumsy but rewarding.

I think every complicated plan or program should be recorded in a way like this. And keep in mind that Contexts of mlo can be indentical to  tags of evernotes for better efficiency.

MLO Team shows no any sign to fix the issue of inserting a Chinese characters link, what a disappointment. And also no supporting to Windows HiDPI zooming until now.

Chinese:add <>, <file:C:\测试\>
EverNote Note:
1、In EverNote, copy note link with "Control",then you will get the local link.
2、In MLO Note:type “<file:>”,paste the local link
OK

for instance
<file:evernote:///view/8892/s9/280215a3-e66b-4623-acd3-c72455d32d/280215a3-e67b-4623-acd3-c7235235dd/>
