What is interesting in all of this is the _FACT_ that without the
stimulus and without a lot more of it, we are in very dire straights.
The proper solution to the problem is to come to grips with reality and
deal with it. The reality is that technological innovation and real
capital development (factories and tools) have dramatically reduced the
need for labor/jobs. We can attempt to maintain a 40 hour work week in
which people actually work 60 to 70 hours supporting the people that
aren't employed, or we can shorten the work week and share the work load
among more people.
In the United States the current employer provided health insurance
systems cannot survive. That system prevents the use of more employees
at shorter hours. The Medicare system will need to be opened up to
people who want to pay the full premium costs and use the Medicare system
as opposed to being forced into the private market.
THE FACT is that Obama and the Democrats have saved this country's ass so
far and will continue to do so if the Republican liars can be called out
for what they are.

It is _NOT_ illegal for government to grant tax relief to people who can
prove they have maintained health insurance throughout the tax year. It
is no more illegal to do that than it is to grant tax relief to people
buying homes or paying state property taxes.

That is a very strange claim. People on Medicare are 65 years old and
retired. They are not employed. So why is Medicare adverse to employer
provided health insurance?????

The cost of medical insurance is a fixed cost per employee. If you
increase the number of employees then you increase the company's costs
for employee health care. Two employees each working a 20 hour week will
be paid for their 20 hours of service. But the employer now has to
shoulder twice the previous health care cost. The system we have
anticipates a 40 hour work week and cannot easily adjust BECAUSE of the
employer health care system. The current requirement for employers to
provide health care was designed for "the good old days" and is not going
to work out in the new economy.

It is difficult to imagine why anyone would _NOT_ agree with a medicare
buy in as a choice. As to the forced health insurance, you can pay yer
taxes in support of the system that _WILL_ take care of you whether you
have insurance or not, and then get a tax credit or a deduction for
showing that you are maintaining coverage.
