Hi, a previous poster stated the exact issue I'm having now. Having to ctrl + click every single video found by VDH is extremely tedious. Why can't I simply download all the options in the main menu in VDH? It wouldn't be as tedious if after you clicked to download, it disappeared from the results, but it doesn't.

Previous post: " Is it possible to download all the videos that have been loaded by the extension instead of manually clicking on each video to download it?

For example, if the extension detected 20 videos on 1 page, and I would like to download all 20 of them with 1 click, is it possible?"

This link: https://groups.google.com/g/video-downloadhelper-q-and-a/c/cMk4T-RB9rY/m/oaVuy54rAAAJ  , does not accomplish what I'm trying to do above. That option simply doesn't show up. VDH already detects 20 videos, we just need a button that says "download all results in this list". I'd pay good money for this feature (already bought a license).

Thanks,
Anon

Another reason this is really annoying not to have, is when you are ctrl + clicking all the video results in the list, and they are short videos, you end up clicking on already downloaded videos and them opening, while you are still trying to spam click to download the rest in the list.

This subject comes up every so often. Here's a couple of threads that contain some
discussion of it:

https://groups.google.com/g/video-downloadhelper-q-and-a/c/fJxPtaXAygs
https://groups.google.com/g/video-downloadhelper-q-and-a/c/mZQffHc5pFk

Further to an exchange I had with Michel in the second of those threads, I experimented
with making Quick Download my default action. It made no difference. I still couldn't
select multiple entries on the main VDH menu. Shift+MB1 click, Ctrl+MB1 click,
Shift+Ctrl+MB1 click, any combination of modifier keys, didn't matter. As soon as I
click the mouse button, the VDH menu closes. Ctrl, Shift, Alt, separately & in
combination to modify the mouse click make no difference. I can't select multiple
entries on the VDH menu. I have never been able to do this.

In any case, the bulk download feature works in only certain restricted cases, as you can
read in those 2 threads I cite above. Let me add my +1 to your suggestion.

When you perform a CTRL+click on an entry, it applies the default action to this entry and because of the CTRL it keeps the panel open ... except for Wild Willy (sorry for him).
Normally, the default action is to download the entry, but if you have already downloaded it, the default action is to open the downloaded media.
You know what the default action is prior to clicking because the default action icon is shown in the panel UI: if it shows an arrow pointing down, it will download, if it is a triangle pointing right, it will open the media. So you should look at that before clicking.

I don't believe anyone is able to select multiple entries, if they are, I would love to see video evidence of such a feature. I also attempted every key combination known to man in order to mass perform the default action for all results in the list, and had no such luck. I did however have luck ctrl + clicking options and the window itself not closing immediately after each click (preventing the need from clicking again, then scrolling to the next download option, over and over).

So to summarize, the two needed features are:

1) Ability to select multiple entries in VDH at once via a key press and perform the default action on all those selected (in this case download).
2) Ability to one a file is downloaded, remove / hide it from the list to avoid accidentally clicking to open it when individually ctrl + clicking to download files in the list.

Correct, that is how it functions currently. This is very unfortunate however because when you are mass downloading small file size videos, and when you ctrl + click many of these files at once, and they download so quickly (gigabit internet), you end up opening the files you started downloading before reaching the end of the list. This results in mass number of files being opened, requiring you to close all the files, find where you left off in the list, and spam ctrl + click yet again.

In order to resolve this issue, the two necessary changes would be below:
1) Ability to select multiple entries in VDH at once via a key press and perform the default action on all those selected (in this case download).
2) Ability / setting to once a file is downloaded, remove / hide it from the list to avoid accidentally clicking to open it when individually ctrl + clicking to download files in the list.

I don't see how these changes are technically "not possible", they are super basic features in my mind. I'm not a software engineer, but I've done my share of programming and it just doesn't sound like its impossible at all.

FYI, it's actually not Ctrl+click, it's Shift+click...
