If I have many tabs open in the browser and I want to download all of them, then the extension tab will close after each action, thus I have to scroll through it every time

I'm not entirely sure what you are talking about. I believe you are simply encountering
the normal behavior of how VDH works. But I'm not certain. What would remove all doubt
is if you would post a sequence of screenshots (one screenshot will definitely not be
enough) showing what you are seeing & what you would like to see instead.

Sorry, I don't have a more obscene example. Let's say it's for work, okay?

I open the extensions and click on the video to download it. And the expansion is being closed.
To download the next video, I need to open the extensions again, going from clicking on 3 balls to a tab with all the videos that can be downloaded.
Scrolling also gets lost and I need to scroll down every time and open the extensions every time for every download.

I would like the extension window not to close and I could download videos one by one by clicking on them.

hi,
Sorry but I think it would add complexity to the user interface for a very specific need.

It sounds to me like the extension is crashing after each download from what they are saying. No mention of what browser & OS used but I
can tell from the image that it is Chrome. There are upwards of 30 or more tabs open, this combined with the downloading is causing the crashes I'm guessing. Chrome is known to be a memory hog, perhaps the computer ran out of memory ? Or the crashing is a bug specific to the chrome extension. I use the Firefox version most of the time.

no interface changes are required. and this is not related to system overload. It's just that the extension window closes after any click on any button in it.
Even if I open the extensions in a separate window using the link "chrome-extension: //lmjnegcaeklhafolokijcfjliaokphfk/content/popup.html? Panel = main" then this window will close itself as soon as I click on the settings button or download video or any other active button. All I need is that it didn't do it.
Yes windows 10, googlechrome

even if I open extensions to download videos in the same tab. Then it will close after every download.

My suggestion is that when clicking on an entry, you maintain the SHIFT key pressed. This will prevent closing the main extension popup window and allow requesting other downloads without having to reopen the window.

You know, Michel, I have seen this advice from you multiple times over the years. Every
time I see it, I try it & it never works. I hold down Shift, I click MB1 on an entry in
the VDH menu, & it immediately goes to my default action. It never allows me the
opportunity to click on another entry in the menu. I've even tried holding down shift
while typing DownArrow & it just moves focus to the next entry without highlighting
multiple entries. Is there some setting in VDH that is related to this behavior? I have
looked & looked & I don't see one but maybe it's just not obvious.

Having said that, I'm not sure I would use the functionality anyway. Web sites are
notorious for giving you multiple things to download on a page but VDH picks up the same
title for every one. If you could select multiple entries on a VDH menu, does VDH give
you the option of setting a unique name for each one? Would you get a separate file
selection dialog that would allow you to provide your own file name for each download?
And even if it did, you'd probably get lost trying to figure out which download you were
looking at & you wouldn't be able to make an intelligent choice anyway. By default, I
believe you would end up with a bunch of files, all named almost the same, except for the
suffix -1, -2, -3, etc. So no, I would not use such a feature even if I could get it to
work as advertised.

So, on further clarification from the original poster, it seems that you are just
observing the normal behavior of VDH.

It seems relevant to suggest again, as I have suggested in the past, that once you launch
a download, VDH should refer to that file in the download status menu while the download
is queued & later while it is in flight, and later in the main VDH menu after the
download completes, using the path name to the target file. For example, let's say you
want to download something from YouTube. Let's say, for argument's sake, that VDH
recognizes this with this title:

Random Video about a Random Subject - YouTube.webm

That's sort of like what you get with anything you download from YouTube. Let's say,
once again for argument's sake, that I modify the file name in the file selection dialog
to something like this:

Habs @ Loafs Game Highlights 20211013.webm

And that I select as the target destination for this download this directory:

Q:\Hockey Highlights

In every VDH menu that might ever list this download after I set this name, VDH should
refer to this as:

Q:\Hockey Highlights\Habs @ Loafs Game Highlights 20211013.webm

Stop using the brain dead default name. Start using the name I chose. For people
downloading multiple items to multiple directories at the same time, this would be a huge
help. This would, in passing, also tell the user where the download went, a question
that regularly comes up in this forum.

mig, thanks a lot. This is really what I was looking for. But I understand how I didn’t come to that, I myself tried to clamp the alt and counter, but for some reason I could not clamp the shift.

The only thing I would like to save all videos to the add-on tabs at once with one click, even if there are replays, but this is not so critical. The Shift does correct this (normal operation) which is unknown why a coma might be comfortable at all.

Willy: i tried again the SHIFT trick and it worked as expected (on Firefox/Linux).I don't remember anyone else saying this did not work.
Павел also tells us it worked for him. Павел, can you tell us your browser and platform ?

Willy, if you are to rename the files you download, i.e using the Download action instead of the default QuickDownload action, then having to click again to reopen the VDH popup is not a big deal. In the case of Павел, the SHIFT trick saves him almost 50% of his clicks.

I'm on Firefox 93.0 on Windows 7 64-bit. Maybe it's related to the fact that I have a
backlevel Windows. But this never worked even when W7 was still being actively
maintained by MS. At least, not for me. I tried it again just now, using first Left
Shift then Right Shift. The file selection dialog came up immediately. I know it's not
a big deal to click again. It's what I've always done. I'm just baffled by the fact
that it doesn't work on my system. I suppose it might be my keyboard, but as you can see
here, I don't have any trouble getting upper case text when I need it, so it appears my
Shift keys work fine.

The SHIFT trick is only really relevant for actions that are launched immediately without user interaction, the first use case being when using QuickDownload as default.

If a new tab is to be opened (like for browsing the filesystem to choose the output file name/directory), the extension popup is automatically closed as it loses the focus. I don't think there is any way to keep it open given the browser extension API.
