Hazukashii's World Hash Events: February 2026

Greetings, Fellow Hashers!
Hazukashii’s latest World Events article landed in my inbox yesterday, just as I was still basking in the afterglow of our Annual Winter Holiday on Saturday. What a day. We followed Tarheel‑style marks through wooded trails and along scenic pathways skirting stockade fences—while the resident hounds, tethered to their posts, barked their envy at our freedom. The Après was its own celebration: crockpots of chili (three kinds!) and a long table loaded with baked delights to titillate every sense - especially taste!
With that warmth still lingering, I spent Sunday updating a few TH4 records before settling in to graze through Hazukashii’s Worldwide Events for February 2026. Before revealing the February lineup, he took a moment to look back at the 2025 interhashes—an impressive global sweep through Oman, Estonia, Ghana, Taiwan, and the USA (New Orleans!).
As he turns to the coming year, one event leaps off the page: the World Interhash in Indonesia. And this year, it’s not just about the destination. It’s about the vote that follows. Kenya has stepped forward with a compelling bid for 2028—one that would put AFRICA on the map of Interhash history in a bold, long‑overdue way. Haz gives it his passionate support, and it’s a great opportunity to help shape the future of hashing on a truly global scale. A comprehensive list of 2026 Interhashes draws us in next, with the heading REGO IS OPEN…(and other new events): Bahrain’s Intergulf 2026, Uruguay’s Pan South America Hash, and, in the USA, Palm Springs, California, Betty Ford’s Relapse. The following year brings Hashing the Arctic, Sierra Leone’s Pan Africa Hash, and India’s Pan Asia Hash.
Haz marvels at how the hashing world has bounced back from the Pandemic-induced isolation just a few years ago.

Hash History: An enthusiastic reminder that the long-awaited book, True Trail, (by Hazukashii, PhhhD) is published and available in over 100 countries! I got my copy on Amazon, and look forward to diving in once the holiday rush settles.
Way Back Machine: A set of links to Hazukashii’s articles from 5, 10, 15, and 20 years ago. It’s a treat to revisit the nuances of world happenings as seen through the eyes of hashers—and the events that shaped those moments.
The list of February events next year is an intriguing mix, with a couple spilling into March: New York’s 9th annual SKASH; Ecuador’s Inaugural Nash Hash; Birmingham, Alabama’s Red Dress Run; San Benito, Texas’ Una Vez Mas (One More Time); Virginia Beach, VA’s Party Gras; Savanna, Georgia’s Green Dress Run; and a 2-in-1, Austria’s Prelube followed by Ski H3 Goes to Bad Hofgastein. Whether restless with wanderlust or content staying here in the USA, the hashes in February offer something for everyone.
Haz’s Thought for the Day is a reminder that we may get a bit rusty over time, but persistence always prevails.
With this in mind, let’s raise a toast to the close of 2025 and to the start of a bright new year filled with wide‑open hash opportunities. On‑On into 2026!

Another year has come and gone, seems to be going by faster every year.
I want to wish you all (in no particular order) a very HAPPY . . . Chalica,
Bodhi, Salgirah, Lucia, Saturnalia, Modraniht, Pancha Ganapati, Yule,
Dongzhi, Newtonmas, Kwanzaa, Koliada, Boxing Day, Hanukkah, Hogmanay, and
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

A quick recap of 2025:
There were 197 multiday events on the international hash calendar. The
hash
world has definitely bounced back from the Covid era. September had the
most, with 26 events scheduled. Five major continental events were very
successful:
- Inter Gulf Hash was held in Muscat, Oman
- Euro Hash was held in Tallinn, Estonia
- Pan Africa Hash was held in Accra, Ghana
- InterAmericas' Hash was held in New Orleans, LA,
USA
- Pan Asia Hash was held in Taoyuan, Taiwan
Next year we have the other two major events:
- INTERHASH will be held in Indonesia
- Pan South America Hash will be held in Uruguay

We are Five months away now . . . If you plan to attend INTERHASH 2026 in
Indonesia, you will have the opportunity to steer the future of this
fabulous event. Kenya is bidding to host, and if INTERHASH is truly to be an
international event, it finally needs to come to AFRICA. I feel so strongly
about this, that I have joined the Organizing Committee to support and
contribute to making this a reality. So when you get the chance to vote next
year, I encourage you to vote KENYA! It's time for Interhash to go to
Africa.
