Hi, SWAT-MODFLOW users.

I've been running the SWAT-MODFLOW model successfully to output recharge for some watersheds in my region. Everything seems to work perfectly.
However, for two watersheds, for some reason, the model doesn't run. In more detail, in the Simulation tab, I click on the “Run SWAT-MODFLOW simulation” button, it calls SWAT-MODFLOW3.exe, the cmd screen appears, but it closes quickly without running the simulation (no error message).

I've seen similar problems in these posts:

But it's not clear to me how I can solve the problem I'm facing.
I'm doing the same procedure for all the watersheds, and they are failing at this step, which seems strange to me.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Wander Martins,

To check the error message, please open the terminal (CMD), navigate to your SWAT-MODFLOW model folder using the cd command, and then type SWAT-MODFLOW3.exe followed by pressing ENTER. It will keep the terminal open and you can view the error message.

Please share the error message with me so I can assist you further.

Thanks,
Seonggyu

Hi, dear Mr. Park.

I followed your instructions. I believe the message you want to see is the one in the screenshot below. However, there isn't a clear error message.

Please share the MODFLOW files, *.dis and *.lst (or *.out). I will review them to check your MODFLOW time setting and whether it has missing info.

Best,
Seonggyu

Hi, dear Mr. Park.

In the folder of my MODFLOW model there aren't  *.lst or *.out files. In that folder there are only files with the following extensions:

  • .bas
  • .dis
  • .nam
  • .nwt
  • .oc
  • .rch
  • .riv
  • .upw

To create my MODFLOW model I followed the steps contained in the QSWATMOD tutorial (section 4.2.3. MODFLOW model has not yet been constructed), which describes the creation of a simple MODFLOW model. In addition, the files being created are in line with those indicated in the tutorial itself (p. 14).

I've just shared a folder with the *.dis file with you.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Wander,

Based on the files provided, it's difficult to pinpoint the issue. Could you please share your entire QSWATMOD project? I'll take a closer look and see how I can assist.

Best,
Seonggyu

Hi, Mr. Park.

I've just shared with you the Camanducaia watershed project, which is failing at the simulation step.

Here is the link to the folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1XH5cLt5jFCnfxm9gTqcpxOUAPHzgSh3Z?usp=sharing

Thanks.

Hi Wander,

I reviewed your MODFLOW grid and noticed that the column IDs were not generated correctly.

Please refer to the following link: QSWATMOD2 New Features https://github.com/spark-brc/QSWATMOD2-plugin?tab=readme-ov-file#new-features-added-to-qswatmod2  and recreate the MODFLOW grid. Once done, try running it again.

Best,
Seonggyu

Hi, Mr. Park and SWAT-MODFLOW users.

Thank you very much for reviewing my project.

In fact, the problem was the column IDs of the MODFLOW grid.

I was adding a column when, for these watersheds, it was only necessary to add a row to the grid.

I corrected these errors and when I ran it again it worked perfectly.

I would like to thank you once again for the help and support you give to this group.

Sincerely,

Wander.
