SR(A)WN 2015 — 6
This is the sixth issue of the Student Robotics (Almost) Weekly Newsletter, a (roughly) fortnightly newsletter which summarises the goings-on across SR. If you have feedback or think we've missed something, feel free to reply to this thread. Emboldened items are ones which we believe could do with extra hands. An absence of emboldening does not necessarily mean that everything is done.
- New Kickstart date: 25th of October; the location in London will be Facebook HQ. To get these dates out quickly someone still needs to verify the Gerrit patch.
- Kickstart preparations are under way and there are plenty of remaining tasks. These are beginning to be tracked in a Trac milestone.
- As started last year, teams will get to work more with the kit at Kickstart; ideas are still needed for the Kickstart micro-games.
- Whilst we want to keep the amount of talking to a minimum, we still need to make sure everything necessary is mentioned in the Kickstart talks and videos, so mention it if you think something is missing.
- Test scripts for Motor Boards, Ruggeduinos and Cameras are currently being developed in Southampton doings.
- As part of Tom Leese's internship, progress on the new tablet interface is going well. The code for which is available on GitHub for anybody to try out.
- Rob has emailed srobo-devel about the environment on the new ODROID brain board.
- The closure of the remaining SR2014 budget lines is now complete and merged.
- 42 teams so far have signed up for SR2015.
- Jeremy has updated the list about the remaining tasks before we can confirm places for SR2015. Many of these tasks remain incomplete.
- Discussion about various improvements which are to be made for construction of the arena wall in this years competition has occurred and a new ticket has been added to trac.
Thanks to Tom Leese, Alistair Lynn, and lilafisch for contributing. The previous issue can be found here.
