OOC: I likely won’t be able to post again until Sunday, so my Ithri post will probably be late.

IC:

(( Bridge, Deck 1, USS Octavia E. Butler ))

While there had been a dozen or so ships at one point, most of them had scattered and flitted away.  The one that headed toward them that right minute had obviously changed their mind.  It wasn’t as large as Ives’ ship, or the Butler, but it was large enough.  Since sensors remained non viable thanks to the magnetar, they had no idea what sort of weaponry it boasted, or what damage it could do.  As she worked, Peri saw that someone had rerouted more power to the shields.  Meanwhile, her search for information regarding the Black Kris came up.  While it wasn’t as  comprehensive as she would have liked, it did have a little more information than they had found about Ives herself.

Katsim: The Black Kris.  It Started in the Alpha Quadrant as a part of an Orion cartel cell.  It’s evidently come into its own and has firmly established itself in the Gamma Quadrant.

She paused as she saw another name that was even more familiar among the bits of information she gleaned.

Katsim: There’s mention of them having some sort of interaction with the Consortium…

That name had been whispered in various places throughout the Gamma Quadrant.  While Peri had not received any information herself, she had seen some intel come through regarding them.  What did they have to do with the Black Kris?

Forsyth: Why does that name sound familiar…

Peri’s eyes flicked up to the screen.  Since her own speech was very soft, she knew it did not carry over to the other captain on the pirate vessel.  That was good, for she wasn’t sure what Ives would do at the mention of that name.

Ives: =/\= Response =/\=

Rouiancet: Response

Forsyth: Right, I’m vaguely familiar with them.

Vague was a good word.  Since they didn’t really have a lot of information, Peri knew they were some faceless entity, but they’d been associated with some strange movements in the Gamma Quadrant.  She knew Sh’shelor had discovered some information.  As she thought about it, she was surprised that Forsyth didn’t remember them, because Peri remembered reading reports about the assignment Arlill had given Forsyth for a special mission to look for information regarding them.

Katsim: Remember? She half whispered to her fellow officer.

Katsim: The mission with Sh’shelor, Shyvo, and Taylor?

Rouiancet: Response

Ives: =/\= Responses =/\=

However, they couldn’t worry about the Consortium right then and there, because in front of them was a completely different problem.  From what she could tell, Ives wasn’t pleased either.  Whatever that ship was doing, it didn’t look good.

Forsyth: Ma’am, permission to ready weapons?

Turning back to her console, Peri kept a close watch on the visuals.  The EMP was almost drained, and once finished, it would take too long for them to charge it back up to use again to make it worth doing in the moment.  Fortunately, they were close enough to have ‘eyes’ on the ship.  She just wished the sensors could do more - at least on that side of the magnetar, they could get a basic position.

Katsim: Still on course toward us, though at an angle.

Forsyth/Rouiancet: Response

Ives: =/\= Responses =/\=

Peri couldn’t understand why they weren’t aiming directly toward them, at least, until she saw the line the other ship was following.  It was angling so that it could quickly retreat, wasn’t it?  DId that mean it planned to strike and run?

Katsim: Sir…I think they’re going to…

And then the ship shook as the other vessel took a shot.

Forsyth/Rouiancet: Response

Ives: =/\= Responses =/\=

Peri wished she could have said she was surprised that the other ship opened fire, but she wasn’t.  Since the Butler had put itself firmly in outside territory, they didn’t have any friends there.  Rouiancet’s inclination to try a more diplomatic solution had been correct, and ironically, it wasn’t Ives who tried to start a fight, it was that second ship which had turned around and come back toward them.  However, it was only one shot, and after quickly checking stats, Peri saw there was no damage - shields had held.  More than that, it had been a warning - which was really nice considering some of the people they had dealt with out in space.  However, that didn’t mean the next time they fired wasn’t going to be more aggressive and deadly.

Katsim: They’re coming around again, Captain.

Forsyth/Rouiancet: Response

Ives: =/\= Responses =/\=
