((CO’s Office, Copernicus Center - Amity Outpost))
Ukinix: Well, Jansen, we’re going to miss you. Again. ::Swallowing:: And I know we’ll cross paths again one day soon. But it’s still bloody hard to say goodbye, and I think I have a feeling, this time it’s for good from Starfleet. But we *are* going to the Shoals for a visit, I’m holding you to it.
Orrey: : I can’t wait to be slowly crawling through pirate infested, separatist space again. ::chuckling::
Keehani: ::Lifting glass:: To Doctor Orrey, and Doctor Wong.
Wong: Cheers!
Orrey: Here here.
Iko: Response
Hopper: Bottoms up!
Ukinix: Cheers.
She tipped the glass to her lips and took a big sip.
Wong: Thank you for putting this little event on. I certainly appreciate it.
Orrey: Again I say. You have earned it.
Hopper: Plus we can either mourn changes or we can celebrate them. The latter option is a lot more fun, I’d say.
Wil nodded in agreement. Time moved on. Things changed constantly to a point where, years later that past was almost unrecognisable (as he’d found out in an alternate 2442, then got transported back to the present timeline, where he had *not* died in an attack from Hirogen Alpha Ravarj, and was still suspicious he was in yet *another* parallel universe and would stay there for another - until the next temporal incident involving a toilet).
Iko: Response
Wong: And ah thank you for the brandy!
Wil smiled, and looked up at Wong, concerned. There really was something wrong.
Orrey: It is a good pull. You really do have a stash in here don’t you?
Wil simply raised his eyebrows once, while giving a mischievous toothy smile.
Hopper: Just don’t tell Starfleet!
Ukinix: I won’t tell ‘em if you won’t. ::Eyeing Keehani:: Or the FDC.
Keehani: ::Annoyed sigh:: Your secret’s safe with me…
Iko: Response
Wong: Uh hey! I hate to interrupt, but I’m not up here often enough to know where the bathroom is.
He confirmed with himself that he could sense something was not quite right with Wong, and it wasn’t necessarily toilet related. There was stress of some sort - at least, that’s how he interpreted it.
He glanced to Keehani, who was furrowing her eyebrows a little, while looking at Wong. She obviously had sensed something too, and probably way more accurately than Wil did.
Orrey: Truth be told I think this is my first time in this office as well. Almost like you have something against your doctors Wil.
Wil put his tongue into his cheek… then took a sip of his brandy.
Hopper: It’s not doctors. Wil just has a vendetta against bathrooms ever since one broke his arm.
Keehani simply stifled a laugh.
Ukinix: Hey! That’s the subject of classified information! ::Awkwardly clears throat, changes subject:: You alright, Ikaia?
Iko: Response
Wong: Ah! You know Klingons. We have two or more of just about everything!
Wil pushed his bottom lip out for a moment. oO Fair. Oo
Hopper: Okay, Ikaia! T.M.I. If you need to go, then get out of here! Down the hall, first corridor on the left, there are signs.
The CO watched as Ikaia set his drink down, and exited through the office door, in a hurry.
Wil quietly spoke under his breath to Keehani.
Ukinix: Is he ok?
Keehani: Stress and guilt.
Wil furrowed his eyebrows for a moment, then smiled and went to stand next ot his departing friend Janse.
((A few Minutes Later - CO’s Office, Copernicus Center - Amity Outpost))
When Ikaia returned, Wil could sense that whatever the Hawaiian-Klingon was feeling earlier had lifted. He seemed more chipper.
Wil looked over to Keehani, who discreetly squinted her eyes a little at Ikaia. Apparently there was *something* still going on...
Wong: Ah! Aloha, everyone! I hope I didn’t miss anything!
Ukinix: I was just reminiscing about that time Jansen used his helmet for a weapon. That’s when I learned the lesson - don’t mess with Doctor Orrey.
Iko: Response
Orrey: Mister Wong, before you get a moment I just want to say that I do have confidence in you and your skill to keep Amity safe and secure in hail and hearty health.
Wil nodded and smiled to Ikaia.
Wong: Ah thank you
Orrey: Keehani. Despite what my esteemed friend may say. You are one of the best things to happen to Wil. ::pointing between the two of them.:: You two that family bond is important, and it shows when you put up with his ::smiling:: eccentricities just how valuable you are to the FDC and how high your career will carry you.
Keehani smiled, looked down, and *blushed* a little. That was not something he had seen often at all. Before he knew it, she had made her way over and patted Wil’s upper arm.
Keehani: Thank you, Jansen.
Wil looked back when Jansen turned to Wil, standing for a long moment. To Wil, it seemed like eons. It was going to be the last time he saw Jansen for a long time in the flesh, and he knew it. The reality hit him. They had been through a lot together. He chewed his bottom lip.
Orrey: I have said more than once, you are as my brother. I will continue to say it. For all my talk of trust in the future and the greatness of the other officers there is no other officer I would rather see leading the Outpost right now. Loathed as I am that you reactivated me I can think of no other group of officers to serve with beyond those here on Amity.
Wil smiled as he watched Jansen rub his jaw.
Orrey: You know how I abhor rank and stricture but, if Starfleet is no longer in the cards for me. I can think of no better mark on my record than to have served under ::clipping his heels together in a sharp salute.:: Captain Wil Ukinix.
Ukinix: Now, Jansen, c’arn that’s unnecessary--
Keehani: Take the compliment from your friend, Captain.
Detecting then ignoring the sense of surprise in Ikaia for whatever reason, Wil looked back to Jansen with a solemn smile, then returned a quick salute of his own.
Wong: Ah congrats!
He gave a nod of thanks to Ikaia.
That’s when Robin shuffled over to the new acting CMO, and had a quiet chat with her good friend.
He snapped his attention back to Jansen.
Ukinix: Jansen, I don’t think I could have got here without everyone in this room, but especially you. Serving with you as First Officer during the Hecate mission gave me a taste of what it might be like in command, and it helped steer me in the right direction. I have a lifetime of thanks I could stand here for hours and give you, but that would be boring. Instead.
He moved over to his friend, and offered him a hug.
Ukinix: Good luck, mate. And say hi to Raissa and Natalia for me.
Orrey: Response
Keehani again moved over to Jansen, and with glassy eyes, swallowed and placed a hand on his upper arm.
Keehani: And thank you for everything you’ve done for Amity. With Rivi leaving, and now you... ::pausing for a moment:: ... we’re going to miss you.
Hopper: No matter how you look at it – I think it’s safe to say that, as things change, and people come and go, we’re looking at the end of an era… and the start of something new and hopefully exciting. Here’s to Amity Outpost and her crew – past, present, and still to come!
Ukinix: ::Lifting drink again:: Cheers.
Keehani: ::Clinking her glass against Jansen’s then Wil’s:: Cheers.
Iko/Orrey: Response
Ikaia silently lifted his glass.
Wil put his hand on Jansen’s shoulder, and offered him a handshake one last time.
Ukinix: ::Offering hand:: Thank you, Jansen. Seeya mate.
Orrey: Response
Tags/End Scene for Wil!
