((Mess hall, The Star of Corinth))
Grellin: Blessed be the fates that have sent these saviours to rescue us! My hero!
And as the three entered the room...
Ukinix: ::Shouting:: Jansen weapon!
The woman Putrika had labelled second-in-command had slipped Orrey's weapon out from its holster, disengaging from a hug.
Inevitably, that weapon was discharged, smacking against the floor near Ukinix's feet -- though the telepaths of the group had already hit the deck, taking cover.
...
Look, in hindsight, it probably *was* an over-reaction. But engineers and weapons just didn't mix. Tristam narrowed his eyes, giving Ukinix a side-glance when they both realised they were the only ones currently on the deck plating.
All eyes turned to the woman currently trying to hide the fact that she had a disruptor she'd just mis-fired.
Ukinix rose his hands up into the air -- as if that was meant to do anything (Terrans, honestly) -- and slowly stood. The Rodulan remained behind, re-arranging himself so that he was at least seated comfortably for this ordeal.
Orrey: ::turning his head inside the helmet toward the captain his voice cold.:: Your crew are all idiots, sir.
oO Yeah, but Putrika seemed okay. Oo
The Andorian sucked on a toothpick before answering.
Shyth: You're telling me.
Dickinson: Captain! I found some Starfleet intruders lurking on our ship.
All the Starfleet officers glanced over to Dickinson. Tristam rose a high eyebrow, reaching well up his forehead.
Alse was the one that said what they were all thinking.
Alse: Case in point?
del Vedova: I'd say so.
Though maybe he was a little too polite.
The Andorian captain chomped down on his toothpike and gave the Terran a sudden clip around the ear.
Ukinix: ::Still showing palms:: Wait until you hear the news *we've* got, Commander Orrey.
Core: It's really not that exciting.
Putrika: (whispering back) You’re the engineer here, you should tell them.
Ukinix: ::To Putrika, half whispering:: It's your ship, you tell them.
Putrika: (Still whispering) Only on a technicality.
Ukinix: ::Quieter Whispering, furrowing brow, To Putrika:: You’re the *chief engineer* of this ship! You’re the one that made the tangled mess in engineering, you made the bed, you lie in it.
Putrika: But you're the bigger expert.
Ukinix: ::Whispering:: Just – bloody tell him!
Alse: You know I can hear you right?
del Vedova: Wil, whatever you have to say--
An EVA helmet was thrown across the room, smashing directly into the Zaldan woman's face. Orrey, responsible for the show of agression, slipped his pack from his shoulder and thumped his fist into the woman's nose.
The engineers on this side of the room blinked in shock as Orrey's victim staggered backward, hands clasped around her likely broken and bloodied nose and crumbled to the deck plating.
Orrey: Now we have a problem but we have solved another one. (speaking sideways) Doc you have a patient now. Deal with her. (back to the captain) This could have been simple. Do not think I have infinite patience because I do not.
Ch'shaakrar: I'll say. You've been here not even twenty minutes and you've already imposed your will and assaulted one of my officers.
Del crouched down to the woman with his tricorder open.
del Vedova: Pretty effectively, too. She's out cold, Commander.
Core:::quietly:: That was unnecessarily violent.
Orrey: You cannot afford to be any dumber than you already are. Take another step and I promise you will be. ::turning his head a fraction more still watching the other crew.:: Wil. What. Is. It.
Wil opened his mouth to get out approximately zero words. He was interrupted by Orrey's victim, Del pushed away as she jumped to her feet.
Grellin: You sonofa-
oO Pa blest'va'kenkt. Oo
Ch'shaakrar: SIT DOWN! YOU'RE EMBARRASSING ME!
del Vedova: (muttering) And everyone else.
Ukinix: ::Quietly, hand still on chest:: Holy crrrrrrap.
With all eyes now back on Wil, he blinked for a few seconds, before he stood straight, placed his hands behind his back, took a deep, calming breath, and then spoke.
Ukinix: Captain. Commander Orrey. After consultation with Commander Core and uh ::realising he didn’t know Putrika’s name:: the Star of Corinth’s chief engineer ::looking up, rolling hand:: - hmm, by default - ::eyes back down:: we recommend that the ship is abandoned, and the crew evacuate to the Veritas. Sirs.
Not totally accurate, but close enough.
Ch'shaakrar: Is this a joke?
Alse: You all seem to be the comedians here you tell us.
Ukinix: No, this is a joke. I went to the doctor the other day, and she incorrectly told me I had type A blood, but it was type-o…
Core: I don't think that's what he meant, Chief.
Ch’shaakrar: You come in here flaunting your fancy rainbow uniforms and act like you know everything, when you know about as much as we did it. Muscle us around, threaten us, and now you’re scavenging us for parts and leaving us for dead.
Orrey: ::shaking his head sympathetically.:: Bless your heart. You just aren’t the sharpest knife in the drawer are you?
Ch’shaakrar: The finest the Federation has to offer indeed.
Grellin: Ca-
Ch’shaakrar: You’ve lost the privilege to speak.
Alse: The question remains Captain Ch'shaakrar, will you be assisting us, and therefor coming with us, or not?
del Vedova: That's right. We could really use those navigational records, if they're still a possibility.
The Romulan engineer took the opportunity to step forward.
Putrika: I do think this is our best bet Captain.
Orrey: We could always leave you and your second here if you would prefer. That does seem like it is what you want to hear. Instead of understanding that the boy there said “evacuating the crew”.
Tristam stood, his eyes hard with a perplexed frown while addressing Orrey.
Core: We will do no such thing, Commander.
Ukinix: Our ship’s in OK shape. We did have some EPS damage, but we managed to get minimal power-
Ch'shaaakrar: Response?
Ukinix: Our ship’s in OK shape. We did have some EPS damage, but we managed to get minimal power--
Rahman: =/\= Veritas to Commander Orrey. =/\=
Finally, a voice to break the tension.
