Wil smiled when the two new Starfleet officers he hadn't met yet entered the room.

 

Ukinix(H): ::smiling, enthusiastically offering hand to both:: Welcome to Amity, ::smirking:: even though we’re on the Kitty Hawk.  I’m Lieutenant Commander Wil Ukinix.

Hopper/S’Raga: Response

In the profile photo that Wil had seen, Lieutenant Hopper had a smile that could set off a thousand starships.  He wondered if she had a bubbly personality to match.  And as for the Caitian, Wil was excited to be finally working closely with one.  Cait was no stranger to him, being the main Federation planet on the way to The Shoals, the tetryon affected area of space patrolled by his former ship the USS Veritas.  In fact, during one shore leave in orbit of Cait he had visited the large markets in Shuuras City Center and had ended up with an antique plastic guitar.

It wasn’t long before the two Betazoids, Daughter Vananth-Polgonz and Tani Lekasa, mediator for the Betazed government, entered the room.  It was the first time he’d met Ms Lekasa in the flesh since Rivi had shown him a picture of her.

Ukinix: ::Offering hand to both, smile:: A pleasure to be supporting you both.

With a spring in his step and a slightly elevated heart rate, Wil stepped onto the transporter pad, then gestured for the team to all take a spot.

 

Ukinix(H): Everyone ready?

He himself was excited.  So much so that instead of his standard starfleet uniform, he had programmed the replicator to generate a short sleeved version of a standard red and black uniform top.  It was similar to that of a short sleeve CMO’s top that they wore sometimes.

He’d also decided to go with black shorts, standard issue Starfleet socks and standard issues shoes.

The destination site that the Second House had picked was a circular string of islands in the middle of a beautiful ocean.  Two of the islands had extinct volcanoes on them.  In fact, one might say that the islands selected by Lohani Vananth-Polgonz’s team were almost very Hawaiianesque.

Wong would have loved it.   But alas, he’d been assigned by Keehani to the Second House’s team.

 

Ukinix(H): All our equipment’s already beamed down, ::rubbing hands together:: it’s a sunny 28 degrees down there right now, and we’re heading down to the biggest of the thirteen islands.  It’s gonna be gorgeous.

Wil enthusiastically placed the tricorder that was in his hand into the holster on his belt.

The XO turned towards the newest Starfleet addition to Amity.

Ukinix(H): Ensign S’Raga.

Ukinix(H): ::Smiling:: As the latest addition to our team, would you ::gesturing to transporter officer:: like to do the honours?

Wil turned to the amused transporter officer behind the console, who was smiling and ready to push their fingers upwards to beam the group down.

Wil lifted his hands in the air and cheered a little, just as the group turned into sparkles…

…and materialised onto the largest island, in a sandy clearing.  Surrounding them were unusual trees, some of them crawling with small purple and green docile ant-like insects.  In the distance was the large, long extinct volcano covered in greenery.  The system’s sun broke through the fluffy white clouds, and Wil lifted his face and closed his eyes allowing the natural sunlight to warm his face.

Next to the team was a stack of Starfleet equipment, backpacks, and for Bec a phaser rifle. 

In the distance through the trees the faint outline of islands Five and Six could be seen.  Wind gently rushed through the leaves of the trees, the breeze from the ocean having a pleasant cooling effect on the surface temperature of the island.

Ukinix(H): Daughter Vananth-Polgonz, you have the brilliant Ensign S’Raga as Comms and Ops specialist, Lieutenant Hopper as our wonderful Science Officer, the dynamic Lieutenant Junior Grade Bec Iko to perform security analyses, and myself as a former chief engineer to provide engineering advice. So let’s start hiking and look for a colony spot for your House.  ::To Starfleet officers:: Team, we’ll let Lohani lead, then once she picks a spot we’ll need your expert opinions on suitability, viability, risks, etcetera.

Ukinix(H): Alrighty.  Team, grab your equipment and let’s go walkabout.

Wil himself walked over to a nearby Starfleet issue backpack and slung it over his shoulder, before pushing his arm through the other loop and adjusting the straps to fit.
