Dear Members,
Sightsavers is an international organization working to eliminate avoidable blindness and promoting the rights of people with disabilities. Sightsavers work in 33 countries of Africa and South Asia, with local partners in government and non-government sector. Sightsavers Pakistan had its beginnings since 1985, and subsequently established a formal country presence in 1998. With the objective of developing eye care for the poorest people in both urban and rural areas, Sightsavers has been providing preventive services as well as a full range of curative treatments. Sightsavers work in Pakistan focuses on strengthening eye health systems, promoting inclusive education systems, and accessible community development solutions.
Sightsavers also invest significantly in the body of existing knowledge and research, to establish an evidence for effective planning and advocacy with government and other stakeholders. Being a vocal advocate for the social inclusion in public policies, Sightsavers has been doing a tremendous work in this area. To share the Sightsavers practices in recently done interventions for the Inclusive Sustainable Goals Implementation and Disability inclusion in eye health sector, Sightsavers produced two learning briefs covering the case studies.
These two learning briefs are a must read for development professionals and practitioners who are working in social inclusion area.
Learning briefs can be found at these links:
