Hey guys, I'm Shashank and I'm part of the Tempo automation<http://www.tempoautomation.com> team
based in the Bay area. We are currently building a "Makerbot for
electronics" - a pick and place robot for custom PCBs and small production
runs and looking to launch a crowdfunding campaign soon. We're still heavy
in development, so would love to get any
questions/thoughts/comments/feedback you have on the project!

Our mission is to bring the capability of lean electronics prototyping to
everyone. After pick and place, we will be releasing solder paste
dispensing, double-sided & through hole mftg capability, and reflow - in
    stages.

    Thanks!

I wasn't meaning hold a spare in stock, more ask the HPC if they'd be
willing to 'cross ship' (well okay more like ship us another one while they
verify ours is actually DOA). If we're confident it's the PSU and the new
PSU was DoA then I'd be happy to front a little money to get us up and
    going again more quickly.

They're not. They claim this PSU was tested before it was shipped.

Mmmm okay, so what needs to be done to get it working again then?

It's a case of hurry up and wait. As always, any updates on the progress
will be posted to this list.

I know it can be frustrating to have to wait on a tool to be repaired, but
please know that those repairing it want it back online as badly as you and
are working to get it online as fast as possible :)

    Good info thanks Adrian.

Mark good idea have a play :D

I'm waiting for my new dongle to arrive.

Michael isdr requires an analogue frontend. Which is easy enough to build
though, Down convert the rf to something like 1khz and feed it into the
idevice microphone. Would be cool if there were an Android version of it.
I've got SDR Touch. The free version is a bit frustrating as it's badly
crippled, but I just upgraded it as I wanted the waterfall display for a
job. It's not bad if you just want a quick view of signals, but the maximum
scan width of 1MHz is annoying.

It would cooler if it was ported to Linux as a library.

    Combined with this...
    http://raspberry-pi.dcemu.co.uk/transmitting-data-with-a-pi-and-rtl-sdr-712228.html

    Running on a raspberry PI...

suddenly you can link all your raspberry PI's without Wifi...
= great news for home automation projects.
and a new say for deregulated home radio use.
with radio then in the make shed, exciting things may happen.

sounds to good to be true, there must be a hole in there somewhere.

    Michael Botha <mik...@gmail.com> Dec 31 06:57AM

What i meant is you could make all your pi's link together on wifeless RF
    with no additional hardware... :0
maybe just 1 or 2x 20cm of wire attached to GPIO (Transmit) and the audio
    Jack, (Recieve)

It seems to be continously running like a cistern with the flapper valve stuck open. Anybody have a suggestion? There does doesn't seem any simple way to open and investigate.

No water leaking or anything just lots of clean fresh water going to waste.

    Hi All

The LHS Amateur Radio group is having a meeting on Saturday 18th January at
    2pm lasting till around 5pm.

I've set out a rough agenda for the meeting here:
    https://wiki.london.hackspace.org.uk/view/Amateur_Radio/Jan14Meeting

We will actually have radios in operation!

If you are interested in gaining your licence or advancing up the licences,
we would appreciate it if you could attend the meeting.

We will also be doing an exam sitting for those who just need the exam.

Looking forward to seeing you all there

    Thomas

I rechecked the measurements of my SBC's paralell port IDC pitch. It's
    actually 2mm, not 0.05". :P

I've found suitable parts on Farnell, but I'm balking at the price. A
single 26-way IDC socket and 1m of 28AWG 1mm-pitch ribbon cable comes to
    £16 including VAT & postage.

Does the space or anyone here have and 2mm pitch, 26-way female IDC's
knocking about? If they're through-hole I'll just solder wires by hand.

    Parts I've found:
    http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/search/productdetail.jsp?sku=1753862
    http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/search/productdetail.jsp?sku=2065102

£16 for a single tiny connector and wire I'm going to use maybe 4-inches
of is a bit of a hard sell.

Toby.co.uk are better for 2mm stuff.
I have a reasonable stock of 2mm stuff and a couple of reels of 1mm
cable cable - not sure offhand if I have 26 way connectors - email me
    offlist if you get stuck.

Thankyou! 95p per connector is MUCH more like I was expecting! Shame
they don't seem to do the 1mm pitch ribbon too.

Maybe I could separate the strands of some 80-conductor IDE cable to get
the right pitch-spacing.. The AWG might be a bit low tho.

Cheapest cable including shipping is now £6.80.

Do Maplins shops still have cut-to-length cable?

    Billy <bi...@billycomputersmith.com> Dec 30 07:24PM -0800

It also might be worth looking in the Ribbon Cables box in the component
    bins.

When dismantling a couple of printers, i'm sure that i stuck a few cables
like that, in the appropriate component bin.

    Guys

I've come in today to look at the Fabscan and the board I bought for it is
    missing.

Does anyone know where it's gone? It was the proper fabscan shield.

Also the arduino that was left in there has certainly seen better days

The fabscan was left near the Lulzbot on the table there.

Eugene started to rebuild it, and I gave him the board. The empty box for
the board was left in the 3D printer box, but the board is missingŠ.

Apologies I still have it from investigations into the Staubli 3d print thing... I'm sure you knew though, although I'm pretty sure it's not actually what I was after. Anyway, I'll bring it back tomorrow

I guess replying to this thread is enough. I shall be there. Paint brushes, we have a few but we’ll need more. Could do with a couple more rollers as well. We have enough trays. We need the scaffolding again as well which was mentioned by another chap in the first thread. That means collection (which I can sort if we can get a van / zip van - the latter I can do).

A Leyland Run wouldn’t go amiss here before-hand. Brushes and rollers at a minimum, White paint possibly.
