9th Aug, 2021: Reaffirming the faith in Constitution authored by stalwarts like Dr. BR Ambedkar and Jaipal Singh Munda, vowing to protect it at any cost and defeat the fascist and divisive elements ruling the country today, tens of thousands of people across the country joined forces as part of the nation-wide programmes under the banner Jan Azadi 75. More than 250 programmes were organized in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Kerala, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh etc. NAPM feels that, 9th Aug which is significant for many reasons including the Quit India Movement and Adivasi Rights Day, shall mark another chapter in the history of resistance against anti-people and authoritarian forces of our country.
The day saw significant organizing from adivasi communities in many parts of the country. In Kerala, Satyagraha and street meetings was organized at 75 places by concerned citizens and groups. Uttar Pradesh which goes to polls next year saw massive participation in public meetings, oath-taking, parcha distribution and protest actions by farmers, agricultural workers, women and youth from over 60 places and numerous districts. In Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, programmes were organized in many districts marking the moment. There was active participation from different organizations and youth across Maharashtra as well as in Mumbai by community members from Mahul and housing rights groups.
Urban basti dwellers and dalit farm workers organized protests in Telangana. Adivasi farmers & youth congregated in Paderu in North Andhra. In different parts of Bihar, public actions were held, such as at Supaul, Araria, Khagadiya and Patna where workers, auto union members, community elders, basti dwellers and young activists participated. Solidarity actions were undertaken with the farmers' movement and NAPM tent at Kisan Andolan in Delhi. Public events were held in different parts of North and West Bengal which also saw participation by fisher people. Industrial and sanitation workers protested in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. Persons from across genders and community locations participated at all places.
Everywhere, people raised the important issues plaguing the country today and how there is so much more to be achieved in terms of freedoms and rights, as we mark the 75th years of independence. Activists challenged the claims of the Modi government and lamented the distortion of history and complete negation of the constitutional values, criminalization of the political dissent, state oppression and destruction of the public sector and all essential entitlements such as food security, education, health and livelihoods. A collective people’s oath was taken at many places (attached).
NAPM also extended solidarity to the call given by the farmers groups and the trade unions for programmes across the country opposing the anti-farmer and workers policies of the government. Jan Azadi campaign received support from All India Forum for Right to Education (AIFRTE), which urged its members to join the programmes across the country. Across many places NAPM constituents also took part in the Joint Call against UAPA, draconian laws, Justice for Stan Swamy and release of all political prisoners. The day also included quite a few press conferences, online events and solidarity actions organized by different states locally.
The martyrs of our adivasi struggles, freedom movement and the recent farmers movement were remembered at different places across the country. An event was organized at the historic venue of the August Kranti Maidan, Mumbai today, the same place from which Mahatma Gandhi issued the clarion call - British Quit India! Angrez Bharat Chodo! The call galvanized the entire nation, as millions of ordinary Indians responded to the call. This movement ultimately paved the way towards our political independence. A similar call is needed today for Fascists and Corporates to quit public life.
On this occasion veteran freedom fighter Dr. G. G. Parikh said that, "Our nation is facing a deep crisis on every front, as those very forces that stood at the sidelines of our freedom struggle are today ruling us. These fascist communal forces continue to divide & polarise the masses, even as the government is selling & privatising our national assets & resources. The Peoples' Movement must be ready for a long protracted democratic struggle, against a very oppressive regime to be rightly on the path of true freedom. We should be ready to go to jail, for any sacrifice that our nation requires." In Kerala as well, Freedom fighter Vasu inaugurated the public event.
Activists associated with NAPM from across the country including Medha Patkar, Dr. Sunilam, Richa Singh, Kaladas Dehariya, Kusumam Joseph, Syed Bilal, Tapasi Dolui, Jagdish Khairaliya, Venkatayya, Dolly, Rajkumar Sinha, Ramarao Dora and thousands of other people participated in the public actions. At different events, they all expressed the sentiment that our nation, our society, our constitution is under threat. We are all part of the movement that is rooted in the values of our freedom struggle. We stand for social, economic, cultural & political equality & justice for the people of India. The Peoples movements have contributed to standing up for and defending the rights of the oppressed & exploited sections of our country. Today, as we face this fascist, manuvadi, communal & patriarchal onslaught, it is time for all committed to the unity of our country to come together & defend the people and our, constitution our nation. NAPM’s year-long campaign is one more attempt towards the same.
They echoed that the defiant movements of the farmers & workers have shown the strength & determined resolve of the people in posing an effective resistance to the Modi regime & its corporate backers. These mass movements as well as the anti-CAA-NRC movement of last year, led courageously by working class muslim women, student uprisings etc are all rooted in the values of our freedom struggle. It is these struggles that stand as a shield defending the interests of the ordinary masses and oppressed peoples of our country. The hate-mongering Modi regime has led our country on a path of political and economic destruction, with high inflation & growing unemployment. It is about time to wage the next phase of our freedom struggle against these forces.
Jan Azadi - “on the path of freedom / azadi kee raah par” is a campaign to connect the hearts, oppose economic inequality, get essential services, education, health, employment, fight poverty and fulfil the dreams and aspirations of a beautiful society. Our collective resolve will defeat the hate politics of the ruling party and challenge them on the ground. Programmes, events, activities, protests, exhibitions, writings, outreach efforts etc would be organised round the year till next year by NAPM, its constituent members and allies across the country. The occasion is to once again take the values of the freedom struggle and rich reminders of people’s struggles over 75 years to the nook and corner of this country and counter the government misinformation and propaganda.

We the People of India,
On this occasion of 75 years of 'independence',
Drawing inspiration and strength from
The various struggling & constructive streams of the freedom movement,
And the values of the Constitution formed after that,
Commit to strengthening our struggle,
In today's challenging times, for,
Just & fair change at the social, economic, political and cultural levels
And against the fascist – oppressive - manuvadi – patriarchal -
divisive and religious fundamentalist forces.
In these 75 years,
The people's movements of this country have
Continuously built and saved this country.
Despite adverse socio-political conditions and repression,
Interventions of people's organizations and struggles,
Have led to many positive changes,
Many sections of the society have attained dignity and rights,
And the struggles continue..
To obtain rights and freedom for all, at every level.
Today, when all kinds of freedoms and rights are at stake,
Alongside crisis in Education- Health-Livelihoods-Agriculture-Environment,
Institutional and social justice is becoming scarce; and
There are constant attacks on minorities, oppressed sections of the society,
As well as progressive ideologies and activists,
We believe that,
The people's movements of this country and
Workers - Oppressed - Progressive Common People alone,
Can bring forth a new revolution,
Taking forward the torch of Shaheenbagh and Kisanbagh ..
Challenging the current anti-people, pro-corporate and hate-fuelled politics,
With a politics of love, reason and justice, in individual and collective life,
To establish an alternative, democratic politics at all levels.

भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन की 79वीं वर्षगांठ और विश्व आदिवासी दिवस पर
250 से अधिक कार्यक्रमों के साथ, साल भर चलने वाले राष्ट्रव्यापी कार्यक्रम का आरम्भ|
देश भर के कार्यकर्ता और नागरिकों ने संवैधानिक मूल्यों की रक्षा करने, लोकतंत्र को का मजबूत करने और फासीवादी ताकतों को हराने का संकल्प लिया!
संसद को चलने नहीं देना, किसान आंदोलन की अवहेलना करना और मानवाधिकार रक्षकों को गिरफ्तार करके,सरकार का 'अमृत महोत्सव' जुमला है !
9 अगस्त 2021: डॉ. बी.आर. अम्बेडकर और जयपाल सिंह मुंडा जैसे दिग्गजों द्वारा लिखे गए संविधान में विश्वास रखते हुए, किसी भी कीमत पर इसकी रक्षा करने और आज देश पर शासन करने वाले फासीवादी और विभाजनकारी तत्वों को हराने का संकल्प लेते हुए, देश भर में हजारों लोगजन आज़ादी 75 के बैनर तले राष्ट्रव्यापी कार्यक्रम मे शामिल हुए| उत्तर प्रदेश, बिहार, केरल, राजस्थान, पश्चिम बंगाल, दिल्ली, तमिलनाडु, ओडिशा, तेलंगाना, आंध्र प्रदेश, मध्य प्रदेश, महाराष्ट्र, गुजरात, झारखंड, छत्तीसगढ़ आदि राज्यों में 250 से अधिक कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए गए। एनएपीएम मानता है कि, 9 अगस्त, जो भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन और आदिवासी अधिकार दिवस सहित कई कारणों से महत्वपूर्ण है, जनविरोधी और तानाशाही ताकतों के खिलाफ प्रतिरोध के इतिहास में एक और अध्याय को चिह्नित करेगा।
आज देश के कई हिस्सों में आदिवासी समुदायों की ओर से महत्वपूर्ण आयोजन हुए। केरल में, नागरिकों और जन समूहों द्वारा 75 स्थानों पर सत्याग्रह और सड़क सभाओं का आयोजन किया गया। उत्तर प्रदेश में, जहां अगले साल चुनाव होना हैं, 60 से अधिक स्थानों और कई जिलों के किसानों, खेत मजदूरों, महिलाओं और युवाओं द्वारा जनसभाओं, शपथ ग्रहण, परचा वितरण और विरोध कार्यों में भारी भागीदारी देखी गई। मध्य प्रदेश और ओडिशा में कई जिलों में कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए गए आर पर्यावरण – विस्थापन के सवाल उठाए गए| माहुल और आवास अधिकार समूहों के अलावा, पूरे महाराष्ट्र और मुंबई में भी विभिन्न संगठनों और युवाओं द्वारा सक्रिय भागीदारी निभाई गई |
तेलंगाना में शहरी बस्तीवासियों और दलित खेत मजदूरों ने विरोध प्रदर्शन किया। आदिवासी किसान और युवा उत्तरी आंध्र के पाडेरू में एकत्रित हुए। बिहार के विभिन्न हिस्सों में, सुपौल, अररिया, खगड़िया और पटना में सार्वजनिक कार्यों का आयोजन किया गया, जहां श्रमिकों, ऑटो यूनियन के सदस्यों, समुदाय के बुजुर्गों, बस्ती निवासियों और युवा कार्यकर्ताओं ने भाग लिया। दिल्ली में किसान आंदोलन और एनएपीएम तम्बू के साथ एकजुटता व्यक्त की गई। उत्तर और पश्चिम बंगाल के विभिन्न हिस्सों में सार्वजनिक कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए गए जिसमें मछुआरों ने भी भाग लिया। छत्तीसगढ़ के भिलाई में औद्योगिक और सफाई कर्मचारियों ने विरोध प्रदर्शन किया| सभी स्थानों पर सभी लिंग और समुदाय के व्यक्तियों ने भाग लिया।
आज हर जगह लोगो ने देश के प्रमुख मुद्दो को उठाया और साथ ही इस बात पर भी मन्थन हुआ कि आजा्दी के 75 साल पूरे होने पर भी स्वतन्त्र्ता और अधिकारो के मामले मे कितना कुछ हासिल करना है। कार्यकर्ताओं ने मोदी सरकार के दावों को चुनौती दी और इतिहास के विरूपण और संवैधानिक मूल्यों की पूर्ण अस्वीकृति, राजनीतिक असंतोष का अपराधीकरण, राज्य के उत्पीड़न और सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के विनाश और खाद्य सुरक्षा, शिक्षा, स्वास्थ्य और आजीविका जैसे सभी आवश्यक अधिकारों के विनाश पर शोक व्यक्त किया। कई जगहों पर सामूहिक जन शपथ ली गई (संलग्न)।
एनएपीएम ने सरकार की किसान विरोधी और श्रमिक नीतियों का विरोध करने वाले देश भर में कार्यक्रमों के लिए किसान समूहों और ट्रेड यूनियनों द्वारा दिए गए आह्वान पर भी एकजुटता व्यक्त की। जन आजादी अभियान को अखिल भारतीय शिक्षा अधिकार मंच (अभाशियम) से समर्थन मिला, जिसने अपने सदस्यों से देश भर के कार्यक्रमों में शामिल होने का आग्रह किया। कई जगहों पर एनएपीएम के घटकों ने यू.ए.पी.ए, दमनकारी कानूनों के खिलाफ, ‘जस्टिस फॉर स्टेन स्वामी’ और सभी राजनीतिक कैदियों की रिहाई के लिए संयुक्त आह्वान में भी भाग लिया। स्थानीय स्तर पर विभिन्न राज्यों द्वारा आयोजित कुछ प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस, ऑनलाइन कार्यक्रम और एकजुटता की कार्रवाई भी शामिल थी।
हमारे आदिवासी संघर्षों, स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन और हाल के किसान आंदोलन के शहीदों को देश भर में विभिन्न स्थानों पर याद किया गया। मुंबई के अगस्त क्रांति मैदान के ऐतिहासिक स्थल पर आज एक कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया| यह वही स्थान है जहां से महात्मा गांधी ने नारा दिया था - अंग्रेज भारत छोडो! लाखों आम भारतीयों ने उस आह्वान को प्रतिसाद दिया। इस आंदोलन ने अंततः हमारी राजनीतिक स्वतंत्रता का मार्ग प्रशस्त किया। फासीवादियों और पून्जिवादियो के खिलाफ भी आज इसी तरह के आह्वान की जरूरत है।
इस अवसर पर वरिष्ट स्वतंत्रता सेनानी डॉ. जी.जी. पारिख ने कहा कि, "हमारा देश हर मोर्चे पर एक गहरे संकट का सामना कर रहा है, क्योंकि वही ताकतें जो हमारे स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के किनारे खड़ी थीं, आज हम पर शासन कर रही हैं। ये फासीवादी सांप्रदायिक ताकतें जनता को बांटती हैं और जनता का ध्रुवीकरण करती है | सरकार हमारी राष्ट्रीय संपत्ति को बेच रही है और उसका निजीकरण कर रही है| जनता के आंदोलन को एक लंबे समय तक चलने वाले लोकतांत्रिक संघर्ष के लिए तैयार रहना चाहिए, एक बहुत ही दमनकारी शासन के खिलाफ सही ढंग से सच्ची स्वतंत्रता के रास्ते पर होना चाहिए। हमें जेल जाने के लिए तैयार रहना चाहिए, हमारे देश को किसी भी बलिदान की आवश्यकता है।" केरल में भी, स्वतंत्रता सेनानी वासु ने सार्वजनिक कार्यक्रम का उद्घाटन किया।
मेधा पाटकर, प्रफुल्ल समांतरा, डॉ सुनीलम, ऋचा सिंह, कलादास डेहरिया, कुसुमम जोसेफ, सैयद बिलाल, तापसी डोलुई, जगदीश खैरलिया, वेंकटय्या, डॉली, राजकुमार सिन्हा, रामाराव दोराऔर हजारों अन्य लोगों सहित देश भर से एनएपीएम से जुड़े कार्यकर्ताओं ने भाग लिया। अलग-अलग आयोजनों में उन सभी ने यह भावना व्यक्त की कि हमारा देश, हमारा समाज, हमारा संविधान खतरे में है। हम सभी उस आंदोलन का हिस्सा हैं जो हमारे स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के मूल्यों में निहित है| जन आंदोलनों ने हमारे देश के उत्पीड़ित और शोषित वर्गों के अधिकारों के लिए खड़े होने और उनकी रक्षा करने में योगदान दिया है। आज, जब हम इस फासीवादी, मनुवादी, सांप्रदायिक और पितृसत्तात्मक हमले का सामना कर रहे हैं, तो समय आ गया है कि हमारे देश की एकता के लिए प्रतिबद्ध सभी लोग एक साथ आएं और लोगों और अपने संविधान की रक्षा करें। एनएपीएम का साल भर चलने वाला अभियान उसी दिशा में एक और प्रयास है।
उन्होंने प्रतिध्वनित किया कि किसानों और श्रमिकों के आंदोलनों ने मोदी शासन और उसके कॉर्पोरेट समर्थकों का प्रभावी प्रतिरोध करने में लोगों की ताकत और दृढ़ संकल्प दिखाया है। इन जन आंदोलनों के साथ-साथ पिछले साल के श्रमिक मुस्लिम महिलाओं द्वारा साहसपूर्वक सन्चलित किये गये सीएए-एनआरसी आंदोलन, छात्र विद्रोह आदि सभी हमारे स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के मूल्यों को आगे बढ़ते हैं। ये संघर्ष ही हमारे देश की आम जनता और उत्पीड़ित लोगों के हित की रक्षा करने वाली ढाल के रूप में खड़े हैं। नफरत फैलाने वाला मोदी शासन हमारे देश को उच्च मुद्रास्फीति और बढ़ती बेरोजगारी के साथ राजनीतिक और आर्थिक विनाश के रास्ते पर ले गया है। इन ताकतों के खिलाफ हमारे स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के अगले चरण को छेड़ने का समय आ गया है।
जन आज़ादी - "आज़ादी की राह पर " दिलों को जोड़ने, आर्थिक असमानता का विरोध करने, आवश्यक सेवाएं, शिक्षा, स्वास्थ्य, रोजगार पाने, गरीबी से लड़ने और एक सुंदर समाज के सपनों और आकांक्षाओं को पूरा करने का अभियान है। हमारा सामूहिक संकल्प सत्ताधारी दल की नफरत की राजनीति को हराकर उन्हें धरातल पर चुनौती देगा। एनएपीएम, इसके घटक सदस्यों और देश भर में सहयोगियों द्वारा अगले वर्ष तक कार्यक्रम, गतिविधियां, विरोध प्रदर्शन, लेखन, जनसम्पर्क प्रयास आदि पूरे वर्ष आयोजित किए जाएंगे। यह अभियान हमे, स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के मूल्यों और 75 वर्षों के लोगों के संघर्षों की असली पूंजी को इस देश के कोने-कोने तक ले जाने और सरकार की दुष्प्रचार का मुकाबला करने का अवसर देता है |

जन आंदोलनों का राष्ट्रीय समन्वय (NAPM)
हम भारत के लोग,
‘आजादी’ के 75 साल के इस अवसर पर,
आजादी आंदोलन के विभिन्न संघर्ष-निर्माण की धाराओं से,
और उसके बाद बनी संविधान के मूल्यों से,
प्रेरणा और ताकत लेते हुए,
आज के चुनौती पूर्ण दौर में,
सामाजिक, आर्थिक, राजनीतिक और सांस्कृतिक स्तर पर
न्यायपूर्ण बदलाव के लिए.. और फासीवादी - दमनकारी – मनुवादी
पितृसत्तात्मक - विभाजनकारी और धर्मांध कट्टरवादी ताकतों के खिलाफ,
हमारे संघर्ष मजबूत करने के लिए कटिबद्ध है।
इन 75 सालों में,
इस देश के जन आंदोलनों ने
इस देश को लगातार बनाया और बचाया
विपरीत राजनीतिक-सामाजिक परिस्थितियों और दमन के बादजूद
जन संगठनों और संघर्षों के हस्तक्षेप से,
हम कई सारे सकारात्मक बदलाव ला पाए,
समाज के कई तपकों को उनका आत्म-समान और अधिकार हासिल् हुआ,
और हर स्तर पर सबके अधिकारों और आज़ादी को पाने के लिए,
संघर्षों को लगातार जारी रखा है..
आज, जब हर प्रकार की आज़ादी और अधिकार दांव पर लगी है,
शिक्षा – स्वास्थ्य – रोजगार – खेती – पर्यावरण पर संकट के साथ,
संस्थागत और सामाजिक न्याय दुर्लभ होती जा रही है और
अल्पसंख्यकों से लेकर, समाज के सभी शोषित वर्गों और
प्रगतिशील विचारधारों और कार्यकर्ताओं पर लगातार हमले हो रहे हैं ..
तब हम मानते है कि, इस देश के जन आंदोलन और
इस देश के श्रमिक – शोषित – प्रगतिशील आम जनता ही,
शाहीनबाग़ और किसानबाग़ की मशाल को आगे लेकर ..
एक नई क्रांति ला सकती है, जो वर्तमान जन-विरोधी, कॉर्पोरेट और
नफरत-भरी राजनीती को चुनौती देते हुए,
व्यक्तिगत और सामूहिक जीवन में प्रेम, तर्क और न्याय की राजनीति के साथ,
एक वैकल्पिक, जनवादी राजनीती को स्थापित करेगी.. .
हम लड़ेंगे और आगे बढ़ेंगे, संवाद, संघर्ष और निर्माण के रास्ते,
देश के संसाधनों को, सांझी विरासत को, संघीय ढांचे और सामाजिक न्याय को,
बचाने और मजबूत करने के लिए ..
हमारे इतिहास की पूंजी, वर्तमान के चुनौती और भविष्य के सपनों को साथ लेके,
लड़ेंगे, जीतेंगे ..इंकलाब ज़िन्दाबाद
