Trying to deploy I keep getting:
"The server encountered an error and could not complete your request. If the problem persists, please report your problem and mention this error message and the query that caused it."
I don't see any outage in the GAE status page. Is anyone else having this problem? I deployed earlier today without any problem.

I tried to deploy several times in the last 30 minutes.

If support needs the appid please let me know. Thanks much.

Same here. I get an HTML error message when attempting to deploy a new
version. SDK 1.3.8 on Linux.

What error are you guys seeing? I am seeing this log:

Creating staging directory

Scanning for jsp files.

Scanning files on local disk.

Initiating update.

java.lang.RuntimeException: Bad authentication response: 500 Internal Server Error

I just want to verify that we are all seeing the same error.

The App Engine is great (and the new 1.4.0 prerelease looks awesome)
but what worries me is the number of issues App Engine is having
lately. Are these being taken seriously and are attempts being made to
improve the overall reliability of the service? This is the second
time in as many days that I cant upload my app when needed.

I'm wondering if this is related to authentication changes. appcfg.py
seems to connect fine, but as soon as I enter my email/password it
returns the error message.

Can someone who has deployed in the last 24 hours (so you don't need
to authenticate) try and let us know if it works?

I last deployed a version of my app about 1 hour ago and it worked
fine. I tried 10 minutes ago and now I keep getting the 500 error.

It's been over an hour and there has been no change to the appengine status page. It says everything is "Normal". I realize the GAE guys are under-resourced, but this is quite disappointing - especially when there are production apps at stake.

Is there any update on what's going on Google Guys? Really not trying to rant, but I've got others breathing down my neck (as I'm sure more devs on this group do as well).

We're been working on addressing the issues.

Besides deploy, is anyone seeing issues with login or receiving reports from end users about login failures? We're seeing some indications that there may be an elevated error rate for session creation.

No login issues (I believe)
Just deployment errors and sporadic errors/increased latancies while
viewing the logs or using datastore viewer.

Same for me. Issue i've noticed:
  • deployment (when successful) is taking a lot longer than usual (~15 minutes)
  • deployed version does not reflect changes made (behaves like the old version) although the deployment ended with exit status = 0
  • some requests return 500 server errors and then subsequent requests work just fine
  • dashboard was down and now shows 0 number of instances running while the app is actually running

Same problem for me. I was happily updating about 2 hours ago, and
then I carried out another update that failed.

The situation now is:

- It takes 14 minutes to deploy (tested 3 times.)
- However, the old version is still the one that is running
- The dashboard shows that 0 instances are running (despite the old
version still running)
- Disabling the app from the dashboard, appears to work (judging by
all the messages), but the application is still running

I'm glad that I'm not the only one experiencing this problem.

My app-id is mentatarchive.

Trying to deploy I keep getting:

I don't see any outage in the GAE status page. Is anyone else having this problem? I deployed earlier today without any problem.

I tried to deploy several times in the last 30 minutes.

If support needs the appid please let me know. Thanks much.

Hi Arun,

Most of the time, these types of deployment errors are transient - you should be able to deploy sooner or later. If this error persists though, can you try remaking a new App Engine ID and attempt to deploy to it?

I retried with a new app engine ID and it now works

Terrific, glad to hear it's now fixed. You may want to try deploying to the old application ID, and if the deploy still fails, just delete off the old ID.
