If I could I'd edit that damn heading with the correct spelling "Birthday" damn it.

Shoji-Thanks and I always get something from your vast cycle knowledge.

Irl-Thank you Sir. One of these days we'll ride.

Eunice-Thank you and yeah BD rides are the best gift IMHO.

Tom-Thank you Sir. And we will have a nice ride soon. At some point I'll be back down and have a plan to ride with my Dad who is riding a LHT.

All of you are value pluses in my life.

Awesome, Hugh! Happy Birthday! Mine's coming up soon and I am looking forward to whatever birthday ride I am blessed with. Last year's photos tell me I did a ride and got snowed on and that's when I realized I needed some birthday ventile!

I love your mug and whole setup. I did coffee on the trail today, but forgot the stand for the burner (Trangia mini stand, no wind guard). Used the burner on the ground and borrowed a stick from the ground to hold the kettle over the flame. A few melted hairs on my hands added to the coffee aroma. Grin.

Glad you had a wondrous ride and hope you enjoyed the rest of your birthday.

With abandon,
Patrick

Congrats.  Every year we can turn over the pedals is yet another good year.

Anticipating the Atlantis' appearance in your adventures....soon?

Hey Deacon,

Thanks Brother, be careful with those palms as well you know ;-) I read the blog not all of it mind you but a good amount sorry you have had to go though such an ordeal. I've booked marked the other material to read when I get some more time...then I'll respond. But in short you fall into the margins and traditional medical practitioners are woefully unprepared to handle folks with conditions not in their typical understanding. But I'll get into it deeper later.

When's your Birthday?

The ride was a bit too short but I'm not complaining and I'm at work at the moment not complaining I have a good job. The plan for the weekend is a ride with my wife on the beach with some Germain food and beer to cap it all off.

Och, Hugh! Nae worries, nae worries atoll. As fast as we can, as slow as we must. l'll keep the conversation offline, and I can streamline some of it for you if that would be helpful, just write me off list.

I get older, though wiser is always dubious, in a few weeks.

Doug,

Thanks! You have a way with brief words packed with wisdom. The Atlantis had a small set back the front derailleur was problematic but I should have it worked out this weekend. Because I used a Phil Wood BB the spindle can be either biased non or drive side making adjustment tricky. The solution is to set the drive side spindle at 23mm from the drive side BB shell edge. It'll be photographed soon.

The real and more important question is when do we get to ride together again?

A fine way to usher in the next year!

Your write-ups have been a great vicarious rider's view of SoCal to those of us less familiar to that riding environment (as opposed to snow, 30°s, rain, potholes, etc.). I keep reading.

Andy,

I'm glad you enjoyed the post. I really love the blogs I read from the other coast as I've never (hope to in the future) ridden a bike in any of those locations like your Pittsburgh.

When I think about how to celebrate the day of my birth I don't think, I want this materiel thing or that or a big party. I've spent all this money on an amazing machine and just want to either ride with friends or "just ride". I'm also a fan of doing something integrated with the ride like the coffee & tea club. Not an original idea but that's the beauty of this list-serve great ideas and friendships.

Thanks for reading.
