It is a small, ting!-type of a bell- but hey, least it's brass! It's
virtue is in the clippy-ness - easy to move among your non-belled
bikes as needed. I have a couple of classic lightweight road bikes
that aren't bell'd, so this clips onto a lever hood with ease. You can
also clip right onto exposed cable housing, which is also nice.
It's much smaller than the other options outed in this thread so far.
Depending on your environment, I'd say it's just sufficient for
delivering a polite "approaching!" warning. Not so great for noisy
urban commuting.
Just make sure you cinch down the clamp firmly- I lost my first one
immediately when I took it on the trails.
