My new-to-me 'Beamer

Thanks to listmember Frank Neff, who delivered this beautiful Quickbeam about forty-eight hours ago, building it up right here at the house using Open Pro rims, Pasela 35s (from listmember Anne up in Michigan; thanks) and Paul Touring brakes I had sourced elsewhere--come to think of it, the bars/stem/levers are from this list or the BOB list.  It takes an e-village . . . . 

I'm not settled yet on bars (or colors of saddle and bar tape)--the bike will likely have Moustache or Albastaches sooner or later--but, oh, does it ride nicely!  Running 40/34 up front and 17 in the rear . . . and looking at the Dos Eno 16/18 for the other side of this wheel.

Congratulations! Tell us how you like the ride once you put some miles on it.

My ideal dirt bike (ie, for the dirt conditions that I ride in, generally flattish and sandy roads and trails) would be a Quickbeam that takes 60 mm tires. The 40/34 X 17 gearing would be just right. One day ....

Patrick Moore, who just rode his '99 gofast fixie 20 windy and hilly miles in 50*F Corrales, NM -- and who actually downshifted to the 17/65" 'cause the uphills had a headwind.

Nice! My QB is also the first gen green. I was running drops until about a year ago when I switched those out for Albas with cork grips. I like that riding position much better, and since I climb a lot, the forward bends on the Albas are good for the climbing or aero poses.  As I said, I climb a lot, so I switched out the 40/32 for a 32/24. I have a dos eno 16/18 on the drive side, but also a free 22 on the flip side. I'm no blaze, but I can climb Mt. Tamalpais in the 32/22. These are great bikes, and lots of fun.

No idea what this means, but the person in question was named Bhima and
he picked the original orange color for the Rambouillet.

Congrats on the new-to-you-QB.  it's always nice to see a matching green one finding a new home.  My build is very similiar to yours with the Pauls brakes, dos eno fw.  Mine came with moustache bars (the old style) which i really liked because they were aggressive and responsive.  i swapped them out for albatross bars just to see the difference and never went back.  i love the laid back position for cruising and the curves for out of the saddle climbing.  with the moustache (and i would think drops) i always felt the need to 'go faster' with the alba it feels more relaxed and i ride more, enjoy it more.  

enjoy yours! i wish it wasn't so darn cold here so i could ride mine today!

Thanks, Minh, and all; I'm really happy with this one, so glad that Frank offered it to me here locally.  Our South Florida roads are--ahem--not the most friendly for bicyclists, but the cycling community here is more active each year, and the weather is mostly cooperative, rain being the only natural hazard (and the occasional hurricane).  Everything I have read about the QB feels spot-on: it just makes you want to go, and it may well become (as Frank predicts) my daily commuter.  The Pasela 35s feel good, but I will try bigger tires too--he had Conti Cross tires on it, I think, which made me want to find paved trails, or more challenging terrain.  BTW, very impressive, Ray Shine, that you can ride Mt. Tam on the QB--suddenly, it's an All-Rounder!  (As any bike can be--the "engine" being a big factor, as GP offers in *Just Ride*).  So far, in this flat terrain, 40/17 gives me an easy-going ride, and I think I'll appreciate a 16 in back to let me dig a bit deeper.  This is a great bike; will post more photos as I sort it out; it's a well-chosen green, to boot. Now that seat is much more appropriate. Bold move presenting the non-drive side shot!
If you're going to sell a riv, local is the way to go. You can agree to right of first refusal and you can still ride it once in a while too.
