Calling all warm weather randonneurs.

I'm planning to finish an R-12 in January. Since the first 11 will all have occurred in Wisconsin, I'm hoping to reward myself by doing the last one somewhere a bit more, ah, clement. So, please weigh in with your suggestions for a great 200km brevet (or a permanent) in January 2014 somewhere we can count on fabulous weather.  In the continental U.S.A.

We always have fabulous weather in Colorado. But then I love all weather. Grin. Point being, you may want to be a wee bit more specific in defining what fabulous weather is to you. Double grin.

With abandon,

Rainbow 200 in San Diego. Ride north through inland San Diego County to Rainbow then go to the coast and head south back to La Jolla. I think its on the 20th next year.

There's a randonee on a Wednesday? Or was that a randonee for a previous year?

It isn't a contest. Enjoy the ride.

Oops my bad that's the 2013 schedule.  That's still an awful lot of riders for a January ride.

As noted, that was a previous year's ride.  Rob (our RBA) has just submitted the 2014 calendar.  If you are interested, you should join the SFR which will put you on the email list for announcements.  Joining is free.

And, I'm NOT going to try to tell someone from MN what weather is like, but January is "winter" in the SF Bay Area, and if you poke around in the archives (JimG via yojimg.net has some ride reports) you'll find that some years it is unutterably beautiful, but some years - the wet years - can be some of the soggiest, dampest, coldest times you might spend on a bike.

But, yeah... it's a great ride -

I rode on a different SFR 200k with a gal from Minnesota.  She complained how hard it was to dress for a California brevet.  In Minnesota it's easy, check the temperature and put on the right clothes.  In California you are very likely to see a 40 degree swing throughout the ride.
