I just read the email update, saying there's a new mixte in the works with a different name.  That's kind of exciting.

Well, I'm not happy. What if the new mixte is even more fabulous than my 9-month-old Betty? What if the new bike comes in lipstick pink or the Glorious red? What's a girl to do THEN?

I've noticed a trend of a lot of guys buying and riding Betty Foys as opposed to the black mixte that Rivendell sells.  I don't know if that's just an availability issue or what but it makes sense to have a mixte that is neither feminine nor masculine in name and appearance.

Impossible to upstage your Betty... unless of course it's called "Leah Foy", and DOES actually come in lipstick pink.. (hey, that's at least more likely than a mixte called "MontclairBobbyB"...just sayin...)

I would like it to be strong enough and have enough tire clearance so I can make a mountain bike out of it.

They should paint one is a sweet Pastel Pink , with Lavender accents :)

I'm a Guy, obviously, but that combo is awesome looking. In the 80's I had a KHS racing frame  that was that color combo and it was awesome !!

So a half bombadil half betty foy that is around the price of the foy? Sounds awesome!

Remember there was that super-involved seat lug on the BLUG, which said it was going to be on a new bike in one and only one huge size.  Then Grant had the followup that he could make multiple sizes with that lug by varying chainstay length with each frame size.  Maybe this will be that?

Leah,

Welcome to the world multiple Rivendell bike ownership.  Your Betty is drop dead gorgeous, but when you are not riding her, she is lonely and needs a friend in the bike stable.

I have been dangerously close (with all due respect to the great Sam Hilborne).  The thought of what retribution would be required to satisfy dear wife usually sobers me up.

Bet regards,

Tom

Yeah, but that was a seat lug for a diamond frame bike, it had a socket for a top tube.  I guess you could cut it off, but it seems silly to go to all that trouble to make a seat lug and then have to modify it.

Mountain Mixte/Appaloosa would be awesome!

Good point, Jeremy.  I forgot about that top tube thing.
