Sorry, could not resist. But the frame is undoubtedly lugged.

hurts my back just looking at him.  I've been chasing my tandem buddies in training every weekend on my lugged steel Moser.  If you've ever tried chasing a tandem, it's a chore - same rolling resistance and aerodynamic drag with twice the power and twice the weight downhill.

but I built my cockpit tall and cozy, with the short reach and short drop Cinelli 64 bar, set about 1cm below the seat.  But chasing them, I'm on the drops down any grade.

Definitely an older Raleigh - Possibly a Record Ace?  Love it.

I enjoy and promote cycling in all of its sometimes admittedly bizarre forms. In particular, and very seriously now, I admire and enjoy watching the genius of power and form that the best cycling athletes display -- be it Reg in a sprint or Eddy in a breakaway or chasedown, or Beryl in a time trial, or -- wonderful -- aerial video of a professional paceline en echelon.

I personally have no taste for racing and have raced exactly twice in a very amateur way, but I will defend to the death your right to pursue it.

Having fun with it, I spy with my little eye 10 things that I could sneak past the orthodoxy as Riv-ish:

1.  Lugged steel frame
2.  No carbon
3.  high flange hubs
4.  Brooks saddle
5.  Wool clothing
6.  cloth bar tape
7.  1" threaded steerer
8.  Non-clipless pedals
9.  nice watch
10.  square taper BB
