Hey folks,

I know this is probably a shot in the dark, but...

Anyone have a 58cm Atlantis just laying around and want to part with it?

Doesn't hurt to ask.

Thanks,
Michael

Michael,

I did a search of all Craigslist and found this:

Post does not mention size? I live in Los Angeles & found mine in Seattle.

Good luck.

Yes, I've been searching.

The one in Monterey is a size 53. I texted about it awhile back.

Thanks everyone.

What is five months for a bike that can last a lifetime?

Now Peter, I wasn't implying anything other than if perchance he found a sweet Atlantis then he'd be riding one in less than 5 months. I most heartily agree that 5 months is a drop in the bucket for a quality Rivendell bicycle.

I think this one sold on eBay a few weeks ago.  The same bike is listed as a completed item.  Thanks for the heads up.

I think it's a testament to the Atlantis, how infrequently they go up for sale. They do but folks tend to hang onto them.

Hugh,

Could you find me a DTT 68 cm Atlantis please.

Lol. Curtis that's a tall order (pun intended). Believe it I've kept an eye for such a beast. Did we confirm Rivendell produced that size? IIRC they did.

A 58cm Atlantis was just up on eBay, located in Canada, for 1,600 CAD with a chris king headset. It had a small ding in the downtube though.

I bought a used 58cm about 3-4 weeks ago off Craigslist from a gentleman in Colorado, and the ad had been sitting for a few weeks when I contacted him. So they do come up from time to time, but definitely not often.

If the waiting time is the only issue, it has also been suggested here that one could order an Atlantis, and find a Surly LHT to use while you wait, as they are very similar. Not ideal, but gets you on the road...

Mark,

I saw that thread. Personally, I know how difficult selling a bike can be. I'm of the opinion that you just get the bike you want. Case in point, I purchased my 2003 Atlantis August 2013 from Seattle Craigslist. I've completely refurbished it over 9 months. It was in fact a longer project than I figured. Fortunately I had Homer to ride.

Curtis:

You're unlikely to find a 2TT 68 cm Atlantis on the market, but I'm sure the elves in Walnut Creek could work out something.  I agree with Hugh:  be patient, & it will get here.  Heck, just finding anything in 68 cm would be long shot.;;

Doug,

Very good advice.  May one day call Walnut Creek.
