It's been an amazing summer in the Bay Area so far and I recently went on a weekend trip to Samuel P. Taylor State Park with the significant other.

Of course, bike touring with your buddies is a little different than bike touring with your partner!

As Manny would say, pictures proved it happened: http://www.flickr.com/photos/66957874@N05/sets/72157635036683784/

Thanks Hugh!

I lived in Los Angeles for most of my adolescence and am amazed that I picked up biking down there.

The Bay Area has so much cycling to explore, whether it be strictly road riding, mixed terrain, mtb'ing or anything else...

Irv,

I wanted to also mention that when I did my tour this summer from SF to Paso Robles I met other cyclotourists from France, Belgian and teachers from Colorado, they were all very interesting and nice. When I did the recent SoCal vs NorCal rumble in San Luis Obispo I/ we did a mini-tour and people would ask where we were traveling from when we explained that we were from Los Angeles they seemed disappointed, one guy said oh I thought you were from Oregon. Life is interesting.

Incidentally, I used to live in SF in the Mission while I went to school and I loved it, I miss it from time to time especially when I see the fantastic images like yours.

Best,

~Hugh

Excellent write up and pics. Thanks for sharing.

Two years after getting married my wife and I did a 2-month hike on the PCT (Mexico border to Mammoth). Our next big adventure was a one week bike tour last month with our 2 kids (age 5 and 6). The part about communicating the basic things... so true. I'll add to that to communicate them early.
