I always wonder-i betcha there are a lot of cool bikes around. And right now I have a lot of bikes. I feel a bit self indulgent but I don't feel too bad when I think of the use. I have a pretty "bikey" family, a "bike" job and live in a great city to ride bikes in. I don't drive much either-like under 2k miles a year so that makes me feel even less guilty. But i'll start in order of importance.-well at least my order.

51 sage green Sam. Best bike ever. Get's used every day.
54 orange quickbeam. Super duper fun.
Cannondale Adventure 2 step through hybrid. Permanent baby seat gets used a lot.
Electra Townie 7d. My wife's ride which is super fun.
1969 Schwinn Twinn-which my oldest daughter (8) thinks is the coolest bike ever. Mostly because she doesn't have to pedal. And it has baskets for all her dolls.
Jamis Capri 24 that's my oldest daughters ride. Fine little bike. First one she got to pick out all by herself. I asked her why she likes it best-she said it makes me feel like I'm a teenager-I'm in trouble.
Surly LHT which usually sees super nasty weather duty. I'm not sure if I'll hang on to that one but it's a good bike so I probably will.

Needless to say we have never had a car in our garage. My wife stopped complaining a while ago. So I guess it's ok.

Bombadil Silver/Gold 52cm -my current fav and IMHO more fun to ride on the rough stuff than my FS Gary Fisher -my main MTB/camping bike

Sam Hillborne Sage Green 51cm -my first Riv and probably my prettiest bike right now -set up now as my dedicated road/gravel bike

1994 Bridgestone RB-T Dark Green 53cm -a very nice original -has a bit of TCO, but lightweight and "lively" feeling

1987 Bridgestone MB-2 53cm Lemon/Lime -one of GP's first designs and a blast to ride (I bought my first MTB, a Diamondback Ascent, in 1987)

2006 Gary Fisher Cake 2 DLX 17.5" -alum full-suspension with crabon seat stays -recently bought to keep in Colorado for the summer

1983 Stumpjumper Sport 19.5" -a rusty project bike yet to be completed, but this is the first MTB I remember riding in Crested Butte as a kid and one that I've always wanted

BTW, how many bikes does one have to acquire before being labeled a hoarder?  I was up to 10 at one point, but I would like to remain married!

I'll play! We also have a bikey family, and we've been car-free since 2011 so all the bikes get used, even if there aren't really so many of them, considering some collections I've seen.  So:

54 Hunqapillar with boscos, racked and fendered and dyno'ed. My go-anywhere, do-anything, all-weather daily rider.

56 Atlantis with noodles. No fenders, no racks, just a straight-up fairweather joyrider.

Brompton M6L, White with black mast. I use this as a travel bike and multi-modal commuting. Went camping on it once. They're very capable little bikes.

17" Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo from 1995. This is the perennial 'project bike'. It's been, variously, a cargo hauler, a single-speed pub bike, a polo bike, and a mountain bike.

A Raleigh ladies 'comfort bike' that my wife uses as a fair weather commuter. It's pretty rough; she's hard on bikes.

A Workcycles Oma, a dutch hoop-framed tank that she uses for inclement weather commuting. It's actually a really nice ride on the flats.

Kona Coco. My almost-14 teenage daughter's bike, and her first 'real' bike: 700C, disc brakes, and a lovely emerald finish.

Most recently, I made room in the garage for another bike, a 2004 BMW R1150GS. The other kind of two-wheeled riding I enjoy!

The best part of reconfiguring the garage is the everyone's bikes are now easy to get out without knocking over anybody else's (usually mine). The Atlantis looks great hanging from the low ceiling!

No garage, but I get creative with my storage. I definitely need to thin this down since my riding is regulated to weekends and occasional weekday errand rides as I live within a 5-10 minute walk of basically everything I may ever possibly need (safeway, high end grocery store, trader joes, pharmacy, book stores, library, coffee shops, bike shops, restaurants, barber, vet, optometrist, dentist, hardware store, commuter train to work, kid's preschool) which is hard to complain about.

52cm Gunnar Sport - my go fast drop bar road bike

48cm green Hunqapillar - my first riv, and my favorite of the bunch, Jones bars and 2.1" Smart Sams, used for camping and trail riding

52cm blue Sam Hillborne - albastache bars, soma cazaderos tires, used for road, trail, and mixed terrain rides. 

54cm silver Quickbeam - setup w/ kid seat and front and rear racks for errands and riding around w/ the kiddo. This is the bike I would use daily, if I lived slightly further away from everything I may ever possibly need, but happy to live where I do. 

My wife also has a public step through bike. 

Here's an add-on question, what would you change?

I'm thinking long term to combine the Gunnar and Hillborne into a single A Homer Hilsen or Ocean Air Rambler, whichever feels 'faster' while still being able to go on trails and be an all around utility bike when need be.

We are a bikish family also, and I might be the exception to the group as my spouse has more bikes than I do. I used to have 3 Rivs, but currently have none: I went 650b 6 years ago and hadn't owned a 700c bike since.

Here is the line-up:

1. 2009 grey-blue Ebisu All Purpose. I got married on this bike, and it's my go-fast rando bike. It has 650b x 42mm tires, fenders, dynamo wheel/light, front rack, and boxy rando bag. It's definitely my best-riding bike

2. 2007 Ebisu Road. This is my wife's alpha bike 1. The burnt pumpkin color is really beautiful. Lightweight steel bikes for her to climb all day.

3. 1985 Trek 770. Reynold 531c throughout; this is my wife's alpha bike 2. Recently acquired and she got it for the color. This one was built by Tim Isaac when Tim was a brazer for Trek. Like the Ebisu Road, it has A23 rims with Grand Bois Cerf 28mm EL tires. Both of her alpha bikes are around 20 lbs

4. Rawland rSogn. I got this from Bill L here on the list. Very pliant ride and tons of clearance for fat tires. It also has a haulin colin rack and a Swift Industry front bag. Dynamo wheel and light also. This it the only fenderless bike I have (not counting my wife's bikes)

5. Kogswell P/R Mark II. This was the bike that convinced me to go 650b, and now paired with a Roseland porteur rack it's what I ride everyday for transportation, errands, grocery shopping, and occasional bike camping.

6. 1982 Trek 720. it used to be my wife's daily bike. But she is going back to school and UC campus is very bad for nice bikes. Even if it doesn't get stolen it can get banged around by mindless 20-year-old. Now it serves as my wife's touring/camping/winter riding bike. Fendered, dynamo'ed, 650b'ed

7. 1984 Specialized Sequoia. Painted Vintage Pink and converted to 650B with canti-post added and uses a Kogswell Konversion low-trail fork. Set up as a rando bike right now and reside at my office. 

8 1983 Trek 500. Reynolds 501 tubings. This is my wife's third road bike. She bought this herself without my help. The paint is in great conditions. My wife is still forming a narrative about the purpose of this bike in our collection.

9. 1989 Trek 850. To avoid her Trek 720 getting stolen or banged up, we got this frame on ebay for my wife to ride to school and around town. It didn't come with a fork so I got a road fork for $10 from the local "bike kitchen". The original U-brake studs actually work (barely) with 650b wheels, so it has them, too. My wife has requested to switch the Jitensha bar to drop bars (which I complied) because she doesn't want to "ride like a grandma".

(does anyone else see a pattern with my wife and 80's Trek?)

Finding space to store this bike is a bit of an issue. Lining up spare parts--tubes, tires, tools, bags, etc.--for all the bikes is also a headache sometimes. I tried gently to ask my wife to lose one but then conceded that it would be futile to do so.

59 canti-Romulus, usual pale blue, double, Noodle/downtube, running 700x40c Clement MSO's on it.  My 'naked' bike; gets the most mileage anymore, as it's ideal for mixed-surface paths that I frequent.
56 diaga-Bombadil, in Ram orange, triple, Moustache/barcon, 650b on force-field Fatty Rumpkins, Tubus Cosmo racks front and rear, Acorn large bag in back, Wald basket up front on a Platrack; have run NeoMotos on it before, and will again (if not something larger). 
(All three are running 9sp XT cassettes and 760-SGS derailleurs.)


Also have a early '90's Nishiki MTB, was my college bike. 

Wife has a Globe Carmel (subset of Specialized).
Younger daughter has a Trek 4300 women's MTB.

I've actually reduced my "N" factor by two recently. Long-term aim is to have a stable of no more than 1/2 dozen keepers. I need to get rid of one more to get there. Which should it be?  Ideally I'd like to replace my Jeunet and Shogun porteur conversions with one real purpose-built, custom porteur.  That would get me to six total.

I work on the road so my garages are a hotel room in CT (until Labor Day then it's to Louisville, KY for a few months) and home in the KC area.

63cm A. Homer Nilsen- 99% of all my riding is done on it. It's headed to PBP with me in two weeks. Fantastic bike. In CT.

58cm Hunqapillar- In CT. I hate to admit it but I don't really like riding it. I've had it 3 years and doubt if I've put 300 miles on it. I want to swap out the Bullmoose for Albas before I decide not to keep it. It's in the hotel.

63cm Roadeo- love it! It's set up for fast riding. It's in KC

90s Specialized Rockhopper- great bike. It's a little too small but it's fun on singletrack. I don't like the chain stay mounted rear brake. In KC

'05 54cm (!) R3000- I got this BIHOR (before I'd heard of Riv) LBS sold me a waaaay too small frame. It sure was light though! It's just a frame now and will go on CL if I'm ever in KC long enough to sell it.

On Order- MAP custom 650B randonneur bike! Mitch says he can deliver in February or March of 2016. It will be wherever I am at the time.

Anyone who has seen my blog know I have a lot of bike turnover, but here is the current stable:

mine:

- Velo Orange Camargue set up with Albastache bars, my main camping, utility, and family riding bike

- '86 Raleigh Technium that I picked up on CL for $25, usually my fixed gear (though now a 6 speed)

- '92 Specialized Stumpjumper, another CL find, I will probably sell it soon.

- '13 Salsa Mukluk 29+/fat tire bike. I'm not sure about long term happiness with the wide bottom bracket

- Twin Six/Waterford 29er, currently for sale, and it's replacement should be here this week

wife's:

- late 90s Trek 4300, from when they were still MUSA

kid's:

- 26" Giant Boulder for my 8 year old

- 20" Trek Mystic for my 6 year old daughter

- 20" Specialized Hotrock for my 6 year old son

- 24" Specialized Hotrock, was my 8 year old's, now in waiting for the 6 year old

- 2 trail-a-bikes, a Giant and Burley Picolo

It's nice to have a three car garage... though my car sits in the driveway all summer to make room for the kids' bikes.

So now I am a gang member, with a bunch of nice bikes! Which I enjoy. While trying to keep my head on straight.

Well, this is always a bit of an embarrassing exercise: lots of bikes, but mostly only one rider (except for the beach cruisers).  Two "garages", one at home in Delaware, one at beach house at the Jersey Shore.  I have too many bikes, but always have trouble simplifying my files (I was duly impressed by Bill Lindsay's recent 5 bike purge!).  Anyway, here goes.

 

AT HOME IN DELAWARE:

Fully rideable bikes (in order of acquisition):

• 56 cm Bombadil, originally raw clearcoat with drops and 9 speed XT drivetrain, now repainted black and rebuilt (by me) with Rohloff drivetrain and Bullmoose bars.  SON dynamo lighting all around, Pass and Stow and Tubus racks.  A wonderful bike, but interestingly doesn't get much riding time.  Most of my riding at home is on the road, so Homer or Quickbeam usually get the call.  Here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/37542512@N04/18223610733/in/dateposted-public/

• '85(?) • '85 Bridgestone MB-2 Resurrectio.  Repainted and completely rebuilt as a sort of townie bike.  2 speed Sturmey Archer Kickback hub, laced to the original gold ano rim.  Alba bars.  The Paul Flatbed rack screwed up the handling, so it's gone.  Brown Fat Franks. • Mid-'90s Trek hybrid, rebuilt for my wife with an 8 speed Shimano Nexus IGH.  Albatross bars.  Not ridden much.  She rides all the time at the Shore, but uses one speed beater cruisers.

• Gitane Tour de France, around 60cm.  Tasteful purple color.  Nice bike, never gets ridden.

• '70s (?) I always wonder-i betcha there are a lot of cool bikes around. And right now I have a lot of bikes. I feel a bit self indulgent but I don't feel too bad when I think of the use. I have a pretty "bikey" family, a "bike" job and live in a great city to ride bikes in. I don't drive much either-like under 2k miles a year so that makes me feel even less guilty. But i'll start in order of importance.-well at least my order.

Cannondale Adventure 2 step through hybrid. Permanent baby seat gets used a lot.

Electra Townie 7d. My wife's ride which is super fun.

1969 Schwinn Twinn-which my oldest daughter (8) thinks is the coolest bike ever. Mostly because she doesn't have to pedal. And it has baskets for all her dolls.

Jamis Capri 24 that's my oldest daughters ride. Fine little bike. First one she got to pick out all by herself. I asked her why she likes it best-she said it makes me feel like I'm a teenager-I'm in trouble.

Surly LHT which usually sees super nasty weather duty. I'm not sure if I'll hang on to that one but it's a good bike so I probably will.

 

Needless to say we have never had a car in our garage. My wife stopped complaining a while ago. So I guess it's ok.

What's in my garage?...lots of stuff!  It's old and small but can hold a lot, however, it requires some dance steps to get a bike out the door and on the road.  Bikes include my 01 Riv Road, Bleriot, Paramount, Hetchin's, 77 Trek, Rock Combo, Ross Mtn. Bike, old Atala tandem, 3-4 wife/kid bikes, etc, etc.  I also have a couple stashed in the crawl space in preparation for Armageddon.

Tweaking this thread: I see most responders have quite large collections. My own ownership predilection is for a few and those just right; this based on a sort of perfectionist obsession that has led me into spending excessive amounts trying to perfect bikes that couldn't be perfected w/relation to my wants. So presently I'm happy with 4: gofast; all round errand and do everything road bike (fenders, racks, bags, lights); off road bike (a dirt road rather than a mountain bike); and a folder on the cheap.

What are all y'all's criteria for "keep" instead of "sell"?

The house at the nw corner of my little cul de sac is rented by what appear to be a contingent of college students; they appear Navajo, perhaps attending the nearby Navajo college. One owns a 2001 Ducati 750 which I've drooled over as I walk by. Surprisingly retro looking compared to the rice rockets so popular among the young hereabouts; the local elderly bad boys and the dentist-types who want to look mean ride farting Harleys or such like. Anyway, I've toyed with the idea of a motorbike, non-rice, non-Harley (Harleys require flabby upper arms), thinking back to my teenagerhood in late '60s early '70s Nairobi where the cool guys rode old British iron -- a friend had a BSA 441 that we thought was the epitome of coolness, and my 135 lb guitar teacher bought an old dirt track racer, stripped Norton, that he could barely kick over. (I observed, but I was already building my own bikes -- liked to race the smaller motos along the dirt road to the Nairobi International School campus on my half-stepped Sprite.)

'15 Bike Friday New World Tourist, folding/breakapart bike, dropbars with mostly Shimano Sora STI clicky stuff. I love the rear shifting, but the front took to much sideways hand pressure. I unplugged the shifter cable and added a Riv Silver bar-end. It looks a little cludgy with the shiftless shifter still in place, but I'm probably the only one who will ever notice.

My most modern bike, bought as kind of a challenge to see what it would be like living with a bit more current technology than my more retro-luddite tendencies would have me riding.  Plus, mountain biking is fun.  Getting the hang of bleeding hydro discs, next up is opening up the air-spring fork.  710mm Jones Loop H-Bars are the only major modification I've made.  

19"(L) 2014 Xtracycle Edgerunner cargo bike, part of a limited run made with the NuVinci N360 CVT IGH.  Urban bike/grocery hauler/errand runner/neighborhood cruiser extraordinaire. After working in a cargo bike shop for 2.5 years, I could finally acquire one of my own, now that I had a garage to park it in.  

The '97 Civic EX 5spd 2dr lives outside, as evinced by the many layers of dust on it...

As I procrastinate about what I should be doing, here is what is in my garage, my shed, and my basement, depending on where they're at in stages of repair, tweaking, or getting ridden. Riv content: all but one are steel, and most of them are lugged. My collection has grown and shrunk over the years, but three bikes is where I tend to hover. Road, commuter, and mountain-y.

My long-term bikes:
65cm 1983 Specialized Expedition with an e-assist front hub and battery in a Revelate bag.  Stealth e-bike, main commuter for my long hilly commute.
62cm 1991 Bstone RB-T, repainted and with a Bilenky low trail fork. The bike that makes me say "ahhhh" nearly every time I get on for a ride.

New arrival:
1990ish 22" Trek 950. Latest attempt to find love with a fat tire 26" bike. Had a 930 briefly a couple years ago that had a too-long Kona P2 fork that goofed up the steering, otherwise I was surprised how much I liked it. Hoping this will be as nice and steer good too. Also my experiment to see if shorter cranks will bother me; have a pair of old Ritchey microdrive cranks in 172.5 that are too cool not try.

Spousal and kids' bikes:
19" 1992 Trek 750. Wife's. Lugged steel, bullmoose bars. Neat bike. Replaced a pretty red XO-3 that had TCO and squirrely handling.
21" Diamondback Apex. Full 7-speed Deore. Bought for myself, decided it was too small, gave to son who needed a new bike. Very solid, good handling, good looking bike.  Wish it fit me.
17.5" Fisher MTB. Disc brakes. A curb find (neighbor's kid outgrew it). Nice bike, other son has almost outgrown it.
17" Diamond Apex with smoke paint and straight fork. Cool little bike from CL I recently got for my daughter as a campus bike. Set up as a 1x7.
19" Trek 520 from the lugged years.  Solid little touring bike.  Daughter's bike, too nice to take to college. Needs a repaint and has a replacement fork that is not the best.
Fisher Aquila. Curb find from way back when. Now has XT and Dura Ace hubs on Campy 26" rims.  Daughter's other bike, wheels are too nice for college... :)

The rest is mostly OT, just while I'm typing wanted to list all the bikes I can remember passing through my shop in the last 20 years or so.

Recently departed: Big old Trek 850 from the first year of production. Too tall for me to ride comfortably off road, replaced by slightly smaller 950 above.

Sole Rivendell: Briefly owned an orange canti Sam.  Surprised how little I liked the color since orange is otherwise my favorite color for anything, not just bikes, and found it too stiff for my taste so sold it a couple years ago.

Departed Bstones and other lugged bikes I still like to talk about: 1989 55cm MB-2 (my first good steel bike, planed for me when I was younger and stronger, hooked me on steel bikes, not sure why I sold it), 1994 62cm RB-1 with 8-speed Superbe Pro (prettiest bike ever), 1992 62cm RB-2 blue and white, 1978 65cm  Trek 710 (besides the MB-2 the only bike I've sold that I've kind of wished I hadn't), 1983 65cm Trek 720 (nice but slow), 1982 65cm Trek 614 (whippy frame, ghost shifted like mad), 1983 65cm Trek 700 (hmm, do I like old lugged Treks or something? repainted this one ugly, prompting me to sell it before giviing it a chance), 1983 62cm Specialized Sequoia (brief stop here before finding its forever home with another bob), 1992 23" Trek 930 mentioned above.

Other departed cool bikes: Specialized Stumpjumpers (2) - a 22" from 1983 or so, and a 21.5: from the early 90s. Schwinn Homegrowns (2) - rigid maroon and gray bassboat paint, singlespeed. Super light, super stiff. The other was orange bass boat full-sus, pretty nice bike overall, very light for full-sus. Trek Y-22, horrible handling off road, actually used as a commuter for a while with slicks and the sus locked out.  Bontrager Race XL. Orange. Didn't like the handling and the short head tube.

In order of mileage on them:

52 cm Blue Rambouillet, came built from RBW. I put a 50 chainring on, changed the wheels to a Rich built set of Phil/Velocity and upped the stock 32mm to 37mm Panaracers.
54.5 cm '95 Blue (repainted now) Road. Frameset that I built up with Campy Veloce and converted to 650B with White Ind/Velocity wheels.
55 cm '84 TREK 660. Came as a partial bike. Replaced the Campy Victory drive side with Veloce double, Ultegra rear and 650B conversion with Suntour/Velocity wheels.

Waiting for a re-paint: 80s Nashbar Mark III (by Maruishi?). Came as a 650B conversion, took it apart to address the sweat caused surface rust. Need to find an affordable painter who actually replies to emails once in a while...

Bleriot w/S&S couplers, fenders, racks, generator hub and lights. 650B. It was my rando bike for several years, which is why it is the best local trips bike ever. After the left hook crash, rebuilt from the couplers forward, plus a Saluki fork, repainted close to Hilsen blue.

Offsite (kidnapped by daughter) 1971 Gitane TdF Professional, rebuilt by me; new crank, new rear wheel, new brakes. Rear rack and fenders. Kept the exceptionally cool Simplex downtube shifters and derailleurs. Borrowed it back while Bleriot was in hospital, borrowed a friends 700c generator wheel, swapped out the pedals for clipless, and commuted on it for several months. Nice ride.

While I am occasionally bit by new bike hunger (who WOULDN'T want a custom Thompson?), I find it very difficult to form a narrative (thank you Franklyn!) about where that bike would fit in my usage pattern/bike collection.

I am just a recreational, club rider, but I have fallen to the Riv philosophy regarding geo and fit. I have many bikes but my current rides are a Roadeo with the new Shimano Ultregra 11sp gruppo( 50-34 crank with 11-32 cassette), and a Hampsten Tournesol steel frame with Campy Record 10sp. Both bikes are my favorites. I love steel bikes with room for large tires.

Surly LHT which usually sees super nasty weather duty. I'm not sure if I'll hang on to that one but it's a good bike so I probably will.

Needless to say we have never had a car in our garage. My wife stopped complaining a while ago. So I guess it's ok.

It's  red, but with a little orange. I just can't believe I sold my first Roadeo. I've equiped the new bike with a new Ultegra 11sp wide group ( 50-34 crank and 11-32 cassette).

At 63, the low gears were what I needed. I can go slow uphill and not feel like I am grinded a big gear. Also, after 30+ years with Campy, I have become a Shimano convert. Some would consider this heresy.

And, I am back to enjoying going downhill.

Enjoy your Roadeo. Don't EVER sell it.

In the future I would like to get a custom Rivendell mountain mixte added to the list too and sell the full squish Trek.

Clayton your trio has stuck in my head overnight... seems like an awesome combo and one which should really enable an amazingly wide variety of riding while at the same time providing a distinct ride experience on each of the three.

My trio of Saluki/Bomba/XO-3 offers an extremely wide variety of riding as well but the ride experience is less distinct given the all-rounderishness of each.  Not a good or bad thing but your trio did make me think about that a bit.  Do you have the green Chev?  Those are looking pretty sweet.

Ah ha!...it is. 48cm Orange canti post and it currently has a set of Rich built wheels with Velocity Dyad and Phil "Rivy" hubs with a 7 speed freewheel...using some Ultegra 6500 components with silver bar end friction shifting. I will let you know if I decide to sell...I've been seriously considering it to get another Riv.

58cm Cannondale XS800 - 2001/2 model cyclocross bike with front headshock suspension. Has its charms, but I think it will be taken out of rotation once I get the Trek settled in. Used to ride in NY, Montreal, touring in France, fastish but rambling rides.

1960s/70s Torpado. Cheap Italian lugged steel road bike I bought for $70 when I lived in Montreal and was volunteering at a bike co-op from a guy who was not interested in dealing with the tubulars. Set up as a fixed gear road bike. I really like it - it has pretty, ornate chromed lugs, gas pipe tubes, is beat up a bit, but it works well for what it is, fits me ok, and was the right price. Still have the Campag Valentino that came off of it kicking around in a box.

 

Civia Twin Cities - my urban bike. It has some serious drawbacks - the twin skinny top tubes make the rear end wiggle all over the place with a rear load, and I wish it was longer and had better fender clearance. But, it was a good deal, I won't cry if it gets stolen, I can carry lots of stuff and my daughter on it, and I really like the Nexus 5 speed hub for city riding. Ideally I would have a Cheviot, or Clementine or even more ideally for me a Workcycles FR8 to replace this. However, all of those are expensive if they walk away, and I live in a high bike theft city, so will spend my money on other rides.

1987? Douglas HornetXT - Recently acquired mountain bike. It is not pretty, it has cheap replacement wheels/saddle, but otherwise full Deore XT 730 in really good shape. I got it cheap as a trial balloon for a 26" wheel all rounder - which I intend to enact after the Betty Foy and Trek, so likely actual build will wait until 2017 ;) - second child on the way and it looks like I'm going to have to keep my day job... I don't know anything about Douglas, but it looks like it may have been a Colorado Cyclist house brand, and the frame is a lugged Tange triple butted tubed made in Taiwan to quite decent but not elegant standards bike. In its current state it is the bike I ride to work when I don't need to drop daughter off at daycare or go shopping. It is unfussy and unburdened by either monetary value or weighty accessories.

I have to admit, I did a double take on the Pliny the Younger. The bikes are nice too. But man, I think its time for a beer ride to share that growler w/ the group ;) Please tell me there isn't a bottle or three of Pappy hidden in there too.

In mine, two Surlys (a 700c LHT and a 26" Trucker DeLuxe travel bike with couplers), a new Rawland Nordavinden, and a 1987 GT Karakoram rigid mtb, illustrating the designed-in-USA-made-in-Taiwan rut I've been in since the late 80s, along with my consort's Raleigh hybrid, designed in the UK and made somewhere. The LHT has gone 10x farther than any of the others, the GT wears Nokians and does icebike duty to keep me riding in the Massachusetts winters, and the Trucker DeLuxe and the Nordavinden are recent builds that have been getting more road time lately. Various Rivish parts and concepts on all of them (arguably extending to the LHT frame geometry, of course), just to keep this OT.

- 63 cm Cinelli Special Course (1971) with full NR group (not ridden too regularly anymore)

51 sage green Sam. Best bike ever. Get's used every day.
54 orange quickbeam. Super duper fun.
Cannondale Adventure 2 step through hybrid. Permanent baby seat gets used a lot.
Electra Townie 7d. My wife's ride which is super fun.
1969 Schwinn Twinn-which my oldest daughter (8) thinks is the coolest bike ever. Mostly because she doesn't have to pedal. And it has baskets for all her dolls.
Jamis Capri 24 that's my oldest daughters ride. Fine little bike. First one she got to pick out all by herself. I asked her why she likes it best-she said it makes me feel like I'm a teenager-I'm in trouble.
Surly LHT which usually sees super nasty weather duty. I'm not sure if I'll hang on to that one but it's a good bike so I probably will.

Needless to say we have never had a car in our garage. My wife stopped complaining a while ago. So I guess it's ok.
