Hi,
We found information difficult to come by for arrival Bridgetown.
There are two 'marinas'
Shallow draft harbour and Careenage. Both are Med moors with buoys (no pick-ups). Both are administered by Tonya Seale. Office numbers: SDH (AM) 246 434 6141. Careenage (PM) 246 426 0093.
Charge for either USD 50 per day (12m mono)
Officials at main harbour passenger terminal. Allow plenty if time for these!

Does anyone know of a similar google group for those of us that are now across the Atlantic?
Have found this group useful and would value similar info for the Caribbean.

For those out here with SSB. There are several nets in operation plus most islands also have a VHF Net in the mornings. If in doubt listen on Ch 68 as it is the usual calling channel.
OCC(Ocean Cruising Club) Net is 0730 local time (1130Z) on 6227 MHz Mon - Sat.

There are several facebook pages that are easy to find and you will get answers to most of your questions on pages like; Eastern Caribbean Cruisers' Discussions (mostly unmoderated) https://www.facebook.com/groups/132087906871838/

Hello,

Checking in at Port St Charles in the north of the island is so much easier than in Bridgetown. You can tie up at the fuel dock, all offices for formalities are very close. Marina is very expensive ($150US for a 15m monohull) but very beautiful, an absolute treat after a crossing. We stayed 1 night, checkout was 4pm, and then anchored in Carlisle Bay and took dinghy into dinghy dock near marina. Bridgetown marinas are very central but noisy and airless in a murky backwater.
We checked out here, a long hot walk to the cruise ship terminal.

Hi Lionel
We arrived at night and anchored in Carlisle Bay, in the morning we took the dinghy to the fishing boat harbour and walked to the short distance to the Cruise Ship Terminal to clear in - it took about an hour and a half. Our experience was very straight forward and we found the people of Barbados very friendly. Generally we left our dinghy in the Careenage. The Yacht Club is fantastic and offers a week of free membership to anyone who has sailed in. The anchorage has a bit of a roll and gets some noise from discos but we loved it there.
Carolyn - Askari - now in Rodney Bay St Lucia

Thanks, Carolyn.
We are now anchored off the yacht club. Agree with what you say. We intend heading to Rodney bay also but are waiting for US visas to be issued. Looks like we might miss this great sailing wind.

Also agree with Lionel. We also came into the bay and anchored at night - but have heard of another boat being fined for doing this. Anchorage at Bridgetown yacht club, Carlisle Bay a great place to be - a bit of swell but tolerable. Great holding in sand- dinghy on beach by club house seems very safe. Clubhouse facilities with showers and bar on beach very welcome. Free membership for one week - ongoing membership €EC 125 / week.
Also awaiting US visa application - process does seem to be swift (ours was held up by Xmas holidays ) but seems to be 2-3 days for interview then 3 days for return of passport.
Plan to be moving on to Cariacou on Sat am. to arrive before officials go home on Sunday afternoon( office open 9-1 on Sundays)

Hi Carolyn,

We now have our US visas and are ready to move on, heading to Rodney Bay.  Ant tips for arrival here?

Hi Lionel

It's very easy here either anchor in the bay and come to dinghy dock inside the Marina or come to Marina - call on 16 Rodney Bay Marina (they respond eventually). Customs and immigration all in office next to Marina office - be aware overtime fees at weekend.

Everything is here and the ARC world leaves today so should be calmer!

Safe sail

Carolyn

Anchorage off the marina entrance or off Pigeon Island are both good with plenty of space to anchor in 5-6 meters.  Several boats came in at night and anchored just beyond the ones already there.

The marina has red and green lights marking the beginning and the end of the channel – there are leading markers but not easy to see at night.  The marina opens at 8Am and monitors channel 16 and 10 but is not swift to answer.  Tel 758 572 7300.  There is lots of space in the marina and also in the mooring field just beyond the marina.  Customs was happy with people coming in by dinghy as two of the boats near to us dinghied in to customs with no problem.

Rodney Bay has a cruisers net at 8:30 on channel 68 daily except Sunday.

Any other questions please feel free to contact us and we will try to find the answer – we will be here mooring field for at least two weeks.

Carolyn, Neil,

Thanks for info. For various reasons, we didn't leave yesterday. Now planning to arrive tomorrow morning and take a mooring in RB. Do they have pick-ups on?
