During the download the dive computer reports its exact model, and that
information is used where necessary to distinguish between the different
generations (iDive/iX3M/iX3M2). So even if the correct model isn't shown in
subsurface this will have no effect at all. Unless you have an iX3M2 with the
latest firmware, and a version of subsurface without this fix:

In that case the downloading will still succeed, but parsing may fail if your
dives contain GPS data.
