Hello Mr Hohndel,

I’m non sure weather this is the most proper way to report a snag, I’m trying. If it’s not please let me know.

Since the last update of the mobile app on iOS, my Ratio Ix3m2 tech+ is now recognised as an iX3m 2021 GPS Easy without any visible further inconvenience.
No iX3m appears to be available.
Am I doing something wrong?
Or you need to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

This app isn't written by "me" - it's written by a lot of developers, using tons of other libraries in the process.

IIRC, the Ratio dive computers are indistinguishable to us from the software side. I'm not aware of a change that would have caused that change in text, but I don't think there's really a way to ensure that it is correctly reported, either.

Thanks for your reply.
I can get you in touch with Ratio engineers if it can be of any help.
Let me know…
Many thanks for your attention.
Best regards
Luca

I am trying to understand what the issue is that you are trying to fix.

If it is just the incorrect visual depiction on screen then, err... well... 🤷🏼‍♂️
That seems fairly irrelevant, really? Your dive computer apparently reports model 0x61, which according to the documentation we have is a "iX3M 2021 GPS Easy". If it says something else on the packaging, well, there isn't really much we can do.

Or is there something else that is actually imported incorrectly?

Dirk,

It may appear to be a silly problem unless… some of the data displayed in the app (like CAS?) are computed by the app itself based on the algorithm offthe “perceived model”… I can live without this but as I appreciate subsurface i thought I could report it.
Last but not least… connecting the app to the computer via Bluetooth is most of times a pain. I need to search for it several times before the Ratio shows up even in the advanced mode. I am wondering if recognising the correct model could improve this issue.
Last minute: after the iOS app update the model name is Displayed properly… sometimes. And sometimes not.
Thaanks for your time
Luca

During the download the dive computer reports its exact model, and that
information is used where necessary to distinguish between the different
generations (iDive/iX3M/iX3M2). So even if the correct model isn't shown in
subsurface this will have no effect at all. Unless you have an iX3M2 with the
latest firmware, and a version of subsurface without this fix:

https://github.com/libdivecomputer/libdivecomputer/commit/e1762fc8bddf9d742387617f87b990729c0e482f

In that case the downloading will still succeed, but parsing may fail if your
dives contain GPS data.

I'll need a libdivecomputer download log to check this:
