Hi all,
There's an issue [1] pointing out that the project docs mention alternatively quay.io and Docker Hub which can be confusing.
I did a bit of archaeology and last time it was mentioned [2], there was no decision made on ditching one or the other. Are we in a situation now where we want to pick one registry?
Cheers,
Simon

IIRC, we always "preferred" Quay because of the CoreOS association but also didn't want to ditch Docker Hub because that's where many users go to look for images (I certainly do).

I do agree that referring to both in the docs is not good, can we un-confuse that but keep pushing to both?

I agree that getting away from Docker isn't going to help the users.
Probably having all documentation pointing to Docker Hub is the best
option.
I have no problem with sending to both registries either as the
commands are the same.

Again what is the main reason for keeping Quay as well?
Unless someone objects I would rather keep only Docker hub.

Redundancy in case Docker Hub goes down or changes its terms of use.

Right now I don't see any overhead in maintaining both active.

If there is no overhead that is fine.

Also, we did document Quay in several places, so I would expect that people are using – what do the stats say?

I guess we need to setup the docker-hub-exporter :-)

I guess we could setup this tracking on a small DO droplet.

+1 for just keeping both, it'd probably break many people if we removed one.

I think the original reason was Quay having better UX and fewer problems(?), but then later people (Fabian) were not as sure about it anymore.
