Hi,
I did some search on the website and noted that MLO can't upload attachments into the task. when I add a task on my mobile, sometime i will add the pictures or files what i need to do.  do you have any develop plan to enable this function?

Hello Kevin,

Andrey gets a lot of requests for RTF formatting in MLO, for quite a long time.  So far, he's resisted - I could imagine it would probably need a big rewrite of the format of his whole underlying database.
(personally, I prefer to have unformatted notes in favour of keeping my MLO database light and fast, but I think I'm in the minority).

Hi, sorry to butt in. But why not support markdown? Very easy text only formatting and the renderer is the only thing that has to change.

Markdown can be as simple as
*italic*
**bold**
~~strikethrough~~

https://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/syntax

It is very widely adopted so I am sure there are Java markdown to HTML renderers for in a MLO view.

Just my 2cts.

With regards,
- Jorgen

Hello Jorgen,

I agree, that would be a nice, lightweight alternative to full RTF. Andrey could even include some formatting buttons which remove the need for users to know the markdown key codes.

I thought the codes were /italic/ and *bold*, though?

I guess users would then want the ability to disable markdown, if they use some of those special characters for other purposes in their notes...

I'll put it to the beta forum and see what they say.

Steph,

That would be cool. Sorry if my syntax example was off, I might be mixing JIRA compliant formatting with markdown.. This is what the "spec" says;

Markdown treats asterisks (*) and underscores (_) as indicators of emphasis. Text wrapped with one * or _ will be wrapped with an HTML <em> tag; double *’s or _’s will be wrapped with an HTML <strong> tag. E.g., this input:

*single asterisks* _single underscores_ **double asterisks** __double underscores__

will produce:

<em>single asterisks</em> <em>single underscores</em> <strong>double asterisks</strong> <strong>double underscores</strong>

So italic is like emphasized, which might be equal to italic but it might not. It depends on the parser / renderer of course.

With regards,
- Jorgen

I've just done a search - Andrey definitely indicated that he was considering Markdown support, in the past.

I'd love the idea of being able to export tasks from my mind-mapping software (iThoughts, on the iPad) straight into MLO, if Andrey introduced Markdown support for imported lists as well as for the notes.

We'll see if there's any movement on this idea...

"Dammit Jim,I'm a doctor - NOT A FRICKIN' PROGRAMMER"
I don't want to learn how to program reports or to learn a mark-up language,
- I just want to be able to use RTF to highlight my notes
- and be able to print the output WYSIWYG.
These are "basics" that should be included in at least the desktop client.
- Although there is still much to be said for a web-based interface to consolidate multiple issues to a common platform that played across many different devices.

Kevin,

I too would like to see this feature. It seems that the below posts seem to answer a question you didn't ask. You want to attach pictures or attach files, not reformat how your tasks look, am I correct?

If it is too much to drag attachments along, a better Dropbox or Google Drive integration where the link(s) can be used to download the attachment offline when viewed, and keep it cached once it is on the device. That would help a lot dragging along paperwork or reference notes if needed.

I would like to see inline graphics in an MLO task note, with the
graphics storage somewhere outside of MLO like Dropbox or Drive. This
should go with some mechanism for creating enhanced text in MLO task
notes (bold, italics, underline. Maybe also left and right side indenta,
bulleted list, numbered list, font size)

For the step down to storing a picture somewhere and making it
accessible from a link in the note, I would say that Evernote
integration is already good enough. This is mostly credited to work om
the Evernote side (MLO's contribution is just making http addresses in
the note into clickable links, and making tasks out of incoming text via
Android Share.)

- Evernote is efficient about creating new notes with graphics attached,
even bringing up the camera within the evernote app if requested.

- Evernote is pretty efficient about migrating a note to cloud storage
and sending the web address to android share.

- This makes the note and its attachments accessible by a single click
from MLO on any platform that has the web visible

- Evernote integration with IFTTT enables hacks like saying that any
note created with an MLO tab is to be shared to MLO, making the whole
thing almost effortless. (Note, this may have been fixed but an
apparent glitch in Evernote/IFTTT integration results in maybe 20
minutes elapsed time before notes appear in MLO, a second note created
in Evernote before the MLO item is created has some risk of getting lost)
