Dear all,

Say my goal is to read a book of 1000 pages and each day I want to read 10 pages. Together with MLO pro windows I want to make a plan for this to follow my progress.

So logically speaking to me, I first make a task called "Read book of 1000 pages" and make it into a project. Then I make a sub-task called "read 10 pages".

For the project task "Read book of 1000 pages" I set the effort to 0 so it doesn't count it in the completion percentage. The rest stays standard.
Then for the sub-task "read 10 pages" I set the recurrence pattern to daily. With the End occurrences I set it to end after 100 occurrences.

I expected that when I complete one of the sub-tasks, the project completion would say 1% and with another completion 2%, etc. But it doesn't. Instead, I have to finish all the sub-task recurrences for it to only say 100%.

When I go to Advanced options of the Task Recurrence, I deselected the "Do not create a completed copy of this task on recurring". But this way after completing 1 sub-task it will say 50% as project completion. There is then 1 crossed through copy of a completed recurrence of the sub-task. So it just counts the total of (two) completed sub-tasks and sees the recurring sub-task as 1.

Is there a way to do what I want with the recurrence option? I mean I could just make 100 sub-tasks in the project task but this is not very practical.
Thank you for any help.

Jack,
Please explain which part of "just mak[ing] 100 subtasks" you find
impractical. I believe that this is the only answer for the problem you
present, and I know that there are many negative aspects to this
solution, however I believe that there are ways of making some of them
less objectionable.
