Hi,

I'm a new user of MLO, using the trial versions for now. Already very impressed by the desktop version and now looking into the mobile application.

In the mobile version, for custom views, when I apply an advanced filter for context and configure it to be exactly a specific context, it works fine. If I do the same however with "contains" for
the exact same context nothing shows up. So when having multiple contexts for a task, I can not filter this way on a specific context.

Weird thing is that if I select "ContextsText" as filter with 'contains' and manually type in the desired context, it works as expected.

The first method is much easier to set up and maintain though, and as I would be using quite some customized views, I would appreciate some guidance on
what I might be doing wrong here.

Thanks !

Hi, Peter. What you are trying should really work. I agree with MOK that it would be helpful if you would provide more information or maybe a screenshot or two.

Meanwhile,  here is a hint: in addition to the advanced filter another way to check off the contexts you want to see is to use the context filter.  Tap on the funnel at the lower right of the screen to expand the bottom menu. Tap on the context filter icon, which is a funnel. Select the context(s) that you want to see. If there is more than one,  make sure that you set the all/any switch correctly.

Thanks for your reply !

Here are some screenshots.

Listing of Active Actions without filter :

As you can see there is one task with two contexts.

If I create a view with the following filter I get no results :

To your point, Dwight, I also tried to use the context filter on the active actions view as you mention, and it does not give me any result either :

Am I doing something wrong here ?  Or could this be because I am using the trial version ?

Thanks,

Peter

Peter: I set up a new profile to match what I see in your screenshots.
Here are my screenshots and I believe you will agree that it's working.
If you agree that it's working then the good news is that you are using
it correctly, and that leaves the question of what could be different
between yours and mine.

possibilities:
1. Maybe there is some tricky difference between how you set up your
tasks and views and the way I did. Seems unlikely, your screenshots were
pretty thorough and I matched them.

2. Maybe your copy of MLO is somehow damaged on your phone. The cure
would be to uninstall and reinstall it. I tend not to believe that this
kind of thing is the answer very often, but support people seem to
usually ask you to remove and reinstall so I think you should try doing it.

3. My copy of MLO is not exactly the same as yours. I am using a beta
version that has a lot of experimental code in it, that may or may not
make it into some future release. So maybe one of the experimental
enhancements adds a new feature that makes this work. Seems unlikely, as
the thing you are trying to do matches up with the features for the
public release.

4. Maybe there is a bug in the public release that has been fixed in the
beta. If that's true then you should report the problem to the support
people at sup...@mylifeorganized.net; if there's a fix they would be
able to release it in the next public update.

So, if #2 does not work I would ask you to report the problem to support.

Hi Dwight,

Thanks so much for trying this out. That shows that it should be something specific to my setup.

I reinstalled it and quite surprisingly it now works as expected.  I agree with your comment that it's not often a solution, but apparently
there was a glitch somewhere for me and it seems to be solved now.

Peter
