We were talking about IP KVM's. I'm going to build the pi kvm, I've
ordered the parts. That however is for something completely
different. I'm going to use the pi kvm for remotely controlling my
servers. What I want to use the Miracast for is casting a computer
screen wirelessly to a larger screen across a room and then sit at the
wireless screen with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse and use the
computer. It's a crazy idea I know and most likely it would have too
much latency to be usable and I don't like bluetooth either.
The problem came about for all the wrong reasons. A clients remote
working desk is too small for his notebook and a large 24in screen, so
he wanted to leave his notebook on the otherside of the room and
wirelessly send the screen to the larger monitor on the small desk to
work. So we brought the miracast in the hope that it might work, but
it's too difficult to setup so we've had to rearrange the furniture
again and get a bigger desk.
I still wouldn't mind getting the miracast working as it would be handy
for presentations in the boardroom at work or something like that.
I've given miraclecast a little bit of go but the documentation is a bit
lacking I find. I'm not quite sure what a 'sink' and 'peer' are and how
to go about sinding my notebook screen to this setup.
