Greetings great hive-mind    ...
Can anyone supply me with short ( 6 to 8 foot ) sections of hose
and/or the latest info. on how/where to get short lengths of
light-weight hose?

I was just given a "national" torch body ( pictured )
I am seeking suggestions about appropriate tip(s) to get that fit this torch

On the body and in the literature that comes with it it states:
"Not to be used with mixtures of Acetylene and Oxygen"
But does speak of using Oxygen with Propane, which is what I want to use...
The largest/hottest thing I have on my schedule is to install a few 6mm
seat-pin binder using basic brass/bronze brazing rod.
I will also be doing smaller, jewelry-scale/musical instrument
repair silver-soldering

     OR      =)

Tell me to get a different torch handle?

That's not an oxy/propane torch, it's an AIR/propane. Those burn much cooler. Never used one, not sure what they're used for, but I think brass brazing might be out of its range.

According to their website, it can be used with either compressed air or oxygen.

Fuel Gas with Air or Oxygen

The National 3A-B pre-mix hand torch operates efficiently on a variety of fuel gases (city, natural, mixed, propane, butane) with oxygen or compressed air.”

The National Torch handle can work well with propane and oxygen.  I called them out of curiosity and they sent me a sample torch handle with a variety of tips. What I think I understand is that this torch handle is often used in "lamp making".  This is a sister craft in glass blowing and bead making. that uses propane and oxygen concentrators because they are most often used in a home setting.  Because I wanted a torch handle with size A fittings (and not with barbs or the larger B fittings), they sent me this torch handle with A fittings: 3H Hydrogen/Oxygen Part # 34-10099.  I haven't studied what commercial hoses might work with a barb fitting.  It is a very nice smaller torch handle with a fairly large 7/16" X 24 tpi extension.  All of the tips I received are not the kind that works well with making frames.  They provide a bigger flame pattern that I suppose works better in forming molten glass.

This company makes 7/16" X 24 tips that appear to be the multi-port tips we like to use: www.CarlisleMachine.com  They make them with other threading too.  I haven't checked them out so don't know if the combination of a National torch handle and Carlisle tips would work for us.  The National Torch handle is in the same class as the Meco Midget with a rectangular body.  I prefer a round handle but that is not a universal opinion.  The National Torch company also makes a nice propane regulator.

Thanks for all the responses... I appreciate the info. !
Sadly, this torch handle here had a crack in it and is now in the trash =(
longer version, yes, it came from a glass-artists kit, he only used the larger torch that came with it so gave me the smaller handle.
In my eyes, itt had an imperfection in the casting... or was it maybe a crack? So I took it to the local airgas AND to the local industrial welding places and was looking for an appropriate tip and they both said, that is probably/possibly a crack, we have no way of testing for sure and that is dangerous... so I put it in the trash so no one would get hurt... Now I think I could have sent it back to National torch and maybe they would warrenty it, but I was not thinking that clearly when I trashed it... oh well ...

And you were sure it didn't have a metal interior with - non structural-
plastic cast aound it?

not sure, the outer layer appeared to be something like what I have heard called "bakelite", it could be it was fine, but I was not thinking clearly and was unsure how to test it, I suspect you are correct that it has a metal interior that probably was safe...

( maybe I will check to see if the people here where I am currently staying have thrown the trash out yet ?? )

I would call National Torch and see what they might say and if they were willing to fix it.  When I called them they were really willing to help me way above and beyond normal service.  The one I have is a very nice torch.  It is not in the interests of competitive companies to verify that someone else's torch handle is okay to use.  .

Excellent advice from both Doug and Marten
I found the torch handle in the trash and rescued it...    I will call national soon.
I also thought I could put a cap instead of a tip on the end, hook in an air supply and put it in a bucket of water to see if it bubbles/leakes...   but I will first call national    =)
   Big thanks !

This "cracked" handle I got, the help line at National told me it was most likely just in the plastic.  They suggested I put it in a bucket of water and see if it bubbles.
    Thanks again !
