It may be that the default sleep configuration of the end device
cyclic sleep. If so, see this

That was my problem...thanks for the tip!

It's working now, but the coordinator/receiver is complaining that the end device is not receiving it's ACK.  Are you seeing this with your end devices?

Cheers,
Clint

Nope, are the radios in range?

It does it when they are even inches apart.

I just tried another xbee for the end_device.  The interesting thing is that the ACK is received when the xbee is setup as a router, but when I switch it to an end_device (and no other changes), the ACKs fail again.

The xbee configured as an end device is probably dropping into sleep mode.  I've updated my xbees to router firmware and I don't get these problems any more.

Not an option for me since it's a solar/battery powered device.
Thanks,
Clint

i've got some xbee's setup about the house testing their functions and such. all of them are connected to pic16f88's.

i have digi's x-ctu showing data arriving to the 'base' xbee connected to a pc.

i'm looking for some examples using this java xbee-api to grab the packet stream coming into the computer.

my goal is to parse the data and save into a a mysql database.

anyone got links to examples or similar expamples of that?

tia
