Hi at all,

I use Heekscad/cnc 0.18.0 on Ubuntu 11.04.
I experimented a bit with the drilling operations.
One time i set the drill depth to -8.5(negative!) and since then Heekscnc will crash everytime i
select drilling operations.
The wrong parameter is somewhere stored, but i didn't find where.
I reinstalled Heekscad/cnc .deb and chosed to remove all files. Nothing
happend. It still crash and the wrong parameter is for short time visible.

Can anybody tell me how to reset this parameter?
Should i open an issue at code.google that negative values get braced out?

For your answers thanks in advance.

Pascal

Hello Pascal,

Look in your home directory for a file named .HeeksCNC. There should
be a Drilling section listed and you can change the depth there. The
same thing happens to my HeeksCAD, too.

For what it is worth you may want to go to:

https://github.com/Heeks

for HeeksCAD/CNC info. Also, FreeCAD looks like it is coming along,
but no CNC yet.

Hope this helps, Pascal.

Hi Paul,

You solved my problem. I had only looked on visible files.

Thank you for the hint.

I'm having a similar problem but I'm running 0.22 on windows. What's the equivalent file?

I haven't found the file or location on a Windows installation. But you may want to try this: Start heekscnc and open any good previous job that has a drilling operation (with a positive depth value. Select that drilling operation and change the depth value to any other positive value and apply the change.

That will rewrite that file (that I can't find) and all should be well again. Don't save that job if you need that depth. If you don't have a file, maybe I can send you one to use. I only have v.0.13 so I can't say it would work for sure. Let me know if you want something.

HeeksCNC uses wxConfigBase for configuration.  On a Windows system, I believe the configuration settings end up in the registry.  Look in HKEY_CURRENT_USER:/Software/HeeksCNC/Drilling/m_depth.

Use the 'regedit' command from a command window to access the parameters.

What is the status of HeeksCNC? Is it being developed? Still a Linux version?

Thanks...

Didn't have a good heeks file so I had to use regedit as David suggested.
Worked great.

Thanks guys.

Paul,

My impression is.... (Dan can correct me if I'm wrong).   With everyone contributing to the project, Dan spent most of his time repairing faults introduced with new functionality (including mine).  This becomes quite frustrating.  He posted a message on the HeeksCAD website indicating that he would keep one source tree for his own use but no-one seems to have taken responsibility for the Git version.  I'm certainly not volunteering.  I spent quite a bit of time fixing errors introduced both by me and by others.  Sometimes the errors were not obvious until I got out to the workshop and tried to run the GCode.  I did the same as Dan.  I took a copy of the code as it was then (version 17) for my own use.  I've added functionality to it but I have been quite selfish in that I've allowed the code to drift into something that works on LinuxCNC but not necessarily for other controllers (although it's not very far away from them).

I do, sometimes, miss the situations where people would use the product but I also do not miss having to keep a changing product working for my own purposes.

Thanks David,

That is unfortunate, but I think I can relate - sort of. I appreciate the reply.
