Blocks are way-cool.

Just wanted to make a mention that I was experimenting with the source and was able to make experimental code updates and get that to show up in the designer / block editors (see Clicker block & SingleLineOnly - just experimenting).

Have couple of AI instances running:

hossein-ai.appspot.com         -- running with original source - buildserver running proprly
ai-sdk-bridge.appspot.com      -- running into issue with buildserver incompatiblity. Will check into this later

!!!

Any input for the rest of us on what you did?

Should we all jump in or should we go slow and hope the folks at MIT/Google that know how they did it have time to give input.

I am leaning on going slow, I do not like going slow :-)

Great job I am glad to see someone working on source and giving some progress reports.

Thanks to AI Team, they have provided everything that is needed and automated the build using ant. I didn't do anything especial; just rebuilt using the toplevel build file. I can do a write-up if folks think it would help them.

I'm always pushing for documentation!

The leader of the open source App Inventor for All (AI4A) documentation project JUST released instructions for the translation teams. I took his instructions and some files he gave me and updated a page or two on http://appinventor4all.org/ woo hoo!

Hossein,

Want us to include your app to convert App Inventor to be ready for the Android Market on the resources page?

Hmmm

Know anyone that wants to do a translation of the App Inventor docs ;-)

yes that would be great. There are so many things to do and not enough time to do them all

Gary,

Including on resource page would be great.

Thanks,
Hossein.

:-)

What do you want me to use for your web site?
All I have for now is a simple page. http://appinventor4all.org/docs/forum/
We can get fancy later.

The various translations? We have two that are rolling and two more that will probably get going when those teams have more time and several others that folks said they want to do.

Linking resources? Going slow, people are not getting back with what they want us to use.

This is exciting and I can imagine great possibilities. A menu block would be nice -- the tags being the title and the items, a switch or case or if-elsif-else block, adding gravity to a ball, a fill block for filling drawings, ...

Someone in the European chat was giving input on things he wants.

and

I did a listpicker, called it a multipicker. You loaded the 'selection' with a tree of selections and it would keep selecting new lists till you hit a leaf. I wanted to put the ability to do something when a new selection was opened. I may look at that again.

I asked where a good place to talk about what folks want in another topic in this group.

I was just thinking about cascading menus this AM and how to implement them for a project. That sounds promising.

Doris

This translation project ended up with translations in various languages, everything from Indonesian to Spanish. The teams then moved on and the translations are not being used :-(

If you want to follow up, you can go to the App Inventor 4 All (ai4a) group and say something and we will see what happens.
