May GOD soften your heart, Ken, so that you would come to trust the
truth, Who is Jesus:
Amen.
Though you belong to Christ Jesus, you are a poor soul given to fits
of depression and anxiety because of satan, who torments you
mercilessly into denying knowing the LORD just as he had tormented
disciple Peter into denying knowing the LORD.
May GOD drive satan out of you, David, so that you would be restored
back to normal mental health, in Christ Jesus' name.
Amen.
The latter is incorrect because it is written that there is one church
that truly belongs to Christ Jesus (Matthew 16:18).

"I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our LORD Jesus Christ, that
all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions
among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought. My
brothers, some from Chloe's household have informed me that there are
quarrels among you. What I mean is this: One of you says, 'I follow
Paul'; another, 'I follow Apollos'; another, 'I follow Cephas'; still
another, 'I follow Christ.' Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for
you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul?" -- Apostle Paul (1 Cor
1:10-13)
Bottom line:
There is only one church and this is the church that Jesus has built
on the reality of Peter's rocky up and down life with Christ Jesus
(Matthew 16:16-18):
The members of Jesus' one church, where the Christ is the Priest, all
can publicly say "Jesus is LORD" as has been oft-viewed on-line:

Again, Pastor Dave, can you publicly say "Jesus is LORD" ?

defending my faith that Jesus is Lord on a daily basis, either

Romans 10:13 quotes Joel 2:32, and equates Jesus with the LORD
about whom that prophecy was made. That LORD is Jehovah, the
one self existing God. It says you cannot call on the name of
the Lord, unless you "believe" He is Lord, and the meaning of
Jehovah cannot be stripped from "Lord", since Christ is the
Lord about whom the prophecy in Joel was made.
You don't get saved by just believing Jesus is "sir", or a
powerful master, as can be implied from the meaning of
"Kurios", but by believing He is "LORD" (Jehovah, God).
>So I asked: If the statement "Salvation has always been dependent on

Well, for example, they believed God's promise that whoever
calls upon the name of the LORD (Jehovah, the One true, self
existing God), will be saved, as it says in Joel.
>or
>the thief on the cross?
By believing Jesus is Lord, as it says in Romans:
Luke 23:41
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our
deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest
into thy kingdom.
The thief confessed Jesus is Lord, and the meaning of Jehovah,
the one true God, cannot be stripped from this.
>or the tribesman in deepest darkest Africa, or
>anywhere that the gospel hasn't reached?
They cannot be saved apart from hearing about and believing
Jesus is Lord, in fulfillment of the prophecy that any who
call on the name of Jehovah, the one true God, will be saved:
Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they
have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom
they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a
preacher?

Romans 10
9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and
believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you
will be saved.
10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are
justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are

never be put to shame."
12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentilethe same
Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,
13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be
saved."
This passage directly equates the name of the Lord Jesus, with
the fulfillment of the prophecy that who ever will call on the
name of the LORD (Jehovah, the one existing God), will be
saved!
Thus, Jesus Christ IS Jehovah, the one true, eternally self
existing GOD, and you must believe in and call on Him as such,
to be saved!
This fact is confirmed by Jesus' statement in John 8:24:
"I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins:
for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
The word "he" ("I am he") is not in the original text. It
actually reads "if ye believe not that I am, ye shall die in
your sins".
Now, did the people who heard Jesus say that simply have to
believe Jesus existed, in the same sense they did as they
stood there listening to Him, to be saved from their sins? No,
Jesus was claiming to be the eternally existing one (Jehovah
God). This is evident from the context, where He said "before
Abraham was, I am" (John 8:58). Here, it confirms that unless
you believe Jesus is (the eternally existing God), you shall
die in your sins.
Thus the Bible teaches you should worship only one God, that
the Father, Son, and Spirit is God, and that you must believe
in and call on Jesus as God, to be saved.
You have to believe the Father sent His Son to die for your
sins to be saved (John 3:16). You have to believe the Son is
Jehovah, the One true God to be saved (Joel 2:32; Rom. 10:13;
John 8:24, 58). Worshiping more than one God is idolatry, and
no idolater will inherit the kingdom of Christ and God (Eph.
5:5). The Holy Spirit is a person who is God (Acts 5:4), and
Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost can prohibit forgiveness
(Luke 12:10). Thus, salvation depends on faith in one God who
is three distinct persons.

Let's see... "I am". Last time I checked, "am" was a state of
"being". Now, are you contending that all Jesus meant by that
statement, was that someone has to believe Jesus existed at
the time He made that statement, in order not to die in their
sins? No, Jesus was making the claim of *being* (am) the
eternally self existing one (Jehovah).
And if you don't think so, just look at Joel 2:32:
Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall

Have you heard Christ died for our sins, and God raised Him
from the dead? Did you know God saves you from hell and
gives you eternal life through faith in this finished work alone,
not your merits (Jn. 3:16; 1 Cor. 15:1-3; Eph. 2:8-10; 2 Thess.
1:8-9)? This is so man cannot boast, and God alone gets the
glory (Eph. 2:8-9).
