Martin Luther said the same thing, except he was recomending that
people do it.

I believe is exact words were 'pluck out' the eye of reason.

As for knowing who are the very elect, these you will know by the
unconditional love they have for everyone including their enemies
(Matthew 5:44-45, 1 Corinthians 13:3, James 2:14-17).

Then do you prefer Martin Luther's statement to Benjamin Franklin's?

Reason is the Devil's greatest whore; by nature and manner of being she
is a noxious whore; she is a prostitute, the Devil's appointed whore;
whore eaten by scab and leprosy who ought to be trodden under foot and
destroyed, she and her wisdom ... Throw dung in her face to make her
ugly. She is and she ought to be drowned in baptism... She would
deserve, the wretch, to be banished to the filthiest place in the
house, to the closets."

The time we spend in this world is literally a blink of an eye compared
to the rest of eternity so it truly does not matter if we spend that
blink of an eye unable to see the world around us.

GOD's will be done and not our wills.

So the 18 million cases of onchocerciasis worldwide are of no

The soul is infinitely more important than eyesight. 18 million lost
souls is of infinitely greater concern than 18 million temporarily
blind individuals who will see for the rest of eternity when they
receive their resurrection bodies after GOD's day of judgment.

Funny, in the Southern Baptist tradition I was raised in, our missionaries
put great emphasis on ministering to the physical needs from the very first.
Perhaps mindful of what Jesus warned:

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed
of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation
of the world:

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave
me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in
prison, and ye came unto me.

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an
hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed
thee?

Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my
brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye
cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye
gave me no drink:

I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not:
sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an
hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison,
and did not minister unto thee?

Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as
ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous
into life eternal.

Your answer makes me glad that you are neither my minister -- nor my physician.

Restoring the vision of the blind through the healing power of the Holy
Spirit is much more than ministering to the physical needs of food,
clothing, and shelter. HIS brethren are instructed to first confess
the gospel of Christ before demonstrating obedience to GOD through
service to others:

"Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will
praise GOD for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the
gospel of Christ, and for your generosity sharing with them and with
everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out
to you, because of the surpassing grace GOD has given you. Thanks be
to GOD for HIS indescribable gift !" (2 Corinthians 13-15)

Bottomline: GOD's work in saving souls has priority over providing for
physical needs.

Had you accompanied Christian missionaries to areas where there were no
believers you would have known this.

You might add the need to hear, to touch, to smell and to taste. The
way you describe our only "physical" life here on earth is to spend a
few decades praising your "god" in order to suffer^H^H^H^H^H^H enjoy a

It remains GOD's infinite will that all souls retain HIS generous gift
of free will which is necessary for love and obedience.

It will be infinitely better than life as we know it here in this

Do you even read back what you write? I suspect you're trying to behave
like the "best xian EVER!!!" in order to get a better seat or a better
harp in "heaven".

That "god" of yours, if it's half as clever as you describe it, might
find it strange that, having spent all that money and time making you a

Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to
evade the need to think and evaluate evidence.
Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of,
the lack of evidence.

To see with the eyes and the brains you were borne with !

The god you have so much faith in produces, in about one in 300,000 fetus.

a new arrival that is so horribly and grotesquely deformed the mother is
never allowed to see it.

That mother from then on needs faith, faith in reality.

HE knows all there is to know at any given moment:

This **is** omniscience.

Though GOD has made the master plan for the future, this plan includes
HIS infinite will that all souls retain HIS generous gift of free will.

Proof: Love exists.

Explanation of proof: Love is not possible without free will.

Application: Where there is hate and no love, demon possession is
possible which does result in the loss of free will.

As oft-written, it remains my choice to refrain from judging others per
the kind and helpful suggestion of LORD Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:1-2).

May GOD heal your heart, dear neighbor Archie whom I love
unconditionally.

Which basically means, you think Catholics are going to hell unless
they "de-catholicize" and go jump in a river or something and
disassociated with the Pope, right?

No.

HIS will be done and not my will.

Appearantly you do not see the log sticking in your own eye.

People should be judged by their actions.
Closing your eyes is not an action that desservers a reward.
But don't worry
there is no God to punish you for your inadequacy

No.

My religion is the same as the one to which LORD Jesus Christ
subscribes.

Hint: Neither of US nor the rest of HIS brethren are religious. This
is backed by Scripture for folks like Randy (Pulpitfire) and Vera in
every instance where it is written that Jesus turned against the
Pharisees, who represent the religious.

Those who are guided by the Holy Spirit will know the name of this
religion. You may use this to test all others who claim to be guided
by the Holy Spirit and reveal their falsehood when they do not know the
name of the religion.

It remains my choice to continue to receive HIS guidance in everything
that is to be said, done, or written.

May GOD continue to keep your heart beating, dear neighbor Archie whom
I love unconditionally.

Prayerfully in Christ's amazing love,

So does that make you Jewish then?

(C&C warning for atheists)

The Pharisees represent following the laws (Either God's own, or else
the ones they created for themselves in opposition to God's
commandment) to the letter, at the expense of truly being with God.

St. Peter established the Catholic Church in Rome at the behest of
Jesus Christ.

So does this make you Catholic, then?

Pharisaical following of the rules and regulations of a religion is
being religious.

Untrue.

"I tell you the truth, when you were younger you dressed yourself and
went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your
hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not
want to go." -- LORD Jesus Christ (John 21:18) referring to Simon Peter
wanting to meet Jesus when Andrew told him about the Messiah and
prophesying St. Peter's future in establishing HIS church which are HIS
brethren (also known as The Way) and then being **led** astray to Rome
(to where he did not want to go).

> So does this make you Catholic, then?

No.

Bottomline: You serve as an example of someone not guided by the Holy
Spirit.

Those who read the name of Christ Jesus' religion will immediately know
the information to be true and also know that this information can come
only from the Holy Spirit.

GOD is amazing !

Got a pointer to an AJO article or two documenting this phenomenon?

Funny, Jesus doesn't mention "saving souls" once in laying out his criteria
for turning away people who think like you:

The "least of these" are in reference to HIS brethren, who are already
saved.

"I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these
brothers of mine, you did for me." -- LORD Jesus Christ (Matthew 25:40)

Amen !

Bottomline: Interpretation of Scripture without the counsel of the
Holy Spirit is meaningless.

Sorry to have missed this lovely reply in September
But I am not sure whether this is genuine love,
or that you only love me,
because you close your eyes
for my appearant shortcomings:)

You are forgiven as far as I am concerned.

Would not be able to forgive you otherwise.

Though many automatically judge what they see, it remains my choice to
refrain.

See above.

You remind me of the blind man would would feign vision by pretending
to evaluate the vision of others.

As for knowing who are the very elect, these you will know by the
unconditional love they have for everyone including their enemies
(Matthew 5:44-45, 1 Corinthians 13:3, James 2:14-17).
