If the season includes the World Cup I say Stecklenburg, otherwise I
say Neuer.
Defenders, Hummels or Vidic are good choices.
I am putting Messi in the midfield so I can finally pick Super Mario
( the almost original one, not the guy who can't do a swing around
back heel, the original was Mario Basler) as my forward, before he
becomes a bum this season.

The seasons does *not* include the WC (sorry, I should have said it
explicitly), so I'm taking Neuer as your vote.

OK I pick Oezil as well. Yes you read that correctly, I think he was
even better than the coaches creepy illegitimate son for Real! At
least Oezil looked to pass the ball and played with a bit of
intelligence. Portugal and Argentina and Madrid will never win with
players like Ronaldo and Di maria who only play for themselves.

Then I pick Super Mario overall because he has two left feet and Messi
only has one.
Now I am not trying to turn this sophisticated poll into a farce
( Messi will win anyhow) but I am basing this sophisticated vote on
his improvement over the previous season and how he was able to rise
up from all the ridicule he faced since 2008, especially from people
like me.
He also was the top scorer in the bundesliga last year and second in
the champions league and his haircut surpasses Messi's as well.

I'll vote for Messi for best player. Not votes on the positions, as I
do not watch enough French, German, or Italian football.
