Hello guy, Im interested to create and maintain the pt_BR localization
for the Firefox Mobile(Android)

We are receiving many claims about that, by know we have only the pt-
pt version and it's very borring for Brazilian users.

Im a member of the Brazilian Mozilla Community since 2007 and I would
like to help with that problem too.

Best regards

Hi Rodrigo,

thanks for your interest. It's true that we haven't offered a pt-BR
version on Android so far, but things should improve with the
single-locale APKs we're going to ship for that.

You can start testing those by downloading the pt-BR apk from
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/nightly/latest-mozilla-aurora-android-l10n/,
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/nightly/latest-mozilla-aurora-android-l10n/fennec-11.0a2.pt-BR.android-arm.apk.
These don't automatically update so far, so you'll need to download a
new one every other day. The second link is going to change next week,
too. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=718385 on the updates.

There's still a good chunk of work to do for that, some 200 strings are
missing right now.

Jeferson, can you help Rodrigo to help you? In particular, which
toolchain you're using so that his patches don't get full of merge conflict.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. pt-BR has never missed a release
date of Firefox Mobile. :-|

BTW, I am anxiously waiting for a message from Axel saying "we're frozen"
(*) so I can finish Fennec 11 l10n. :-)

Did you try Firefox Mobile in Brazilian Portuguese? Since the first
version I'm not able to do that.

If you are translating it, we have a bug or they are not including your
translations for some reason.

Take a look in the two attachments of Firefox Mobile 9 and Beta running
on my tablet (Motorola Xoom - Android).

I noted that since the first version when I asked Fernando and he asked
to you about that. We received that link from you
http://groups.google.com/group/mozbr/browse_thread/thread/bf4c9189bcea1800/c329bc920b035b91
<http://groups.google.com/group/mozbr/browse_thread/thread/bf4c9189bcea1800/c329bc920b035b91>
in October 2011.

The firefox mobile in my tablet and cellphone are completely in pt-PT,
including in the language selection, Brazilian Portuguese isnt there as
we can see in the attachments.

I've tried the Nightly everyday, the default webpage is aways in pt-PT
and now the settings dont have a Language selection option.

Running Aurora the problem is the same.

Take a look here https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=720112
other users are having the same problem.

If I can help with the translations, fixing the bug or just testing,
keep me in touch.

Best regards

There are 30+ Fennec locales ready to ship. However, due to some
constraints (don't ask me), Mozilla only ships 13 of them.

Just like Axel said, this is going to be fixed by single-locale APKs.

Thanks by the info Jerfson!

It's very annoying to know that all job is ready and Mozilla dont ship it!

The language is a big barrier to get new users. We need to talk to
Mozilla people to fix that urgently!

Is very complicated to share the brand and encourage people to use the
mobile browser in a different language.

Best regards
