Ok, corrected the subject.

The funny thing is that I use ICS on a Nexus S myself and don't see hangs. What version do you use? 4.0.3? I think the must be pretty much the same, maybe except for single core vs. dual core.

You meanwhile turned on logging, right? Before that, you shouldn't have seen this issue. I am trying to determine if you run Cyanogenmod here. But this should not be an issue.

I think it just means that NewsRob wasn't able to connect to the above address in the NewsRob defined 45 seconds. Maybe you had bad reception? So this should be ok.

So those things look ok to me. Let's see a log when it hangs.

Sorry, clarification: The hang is only on my Galaxy Nexus (hence, not TOO off topic, though a separate thread may not be a bad idea). The SGS2 is currently my fallback phone (where NewsRob appears to work perfectly still). Will try to catch some logs later today. Stay tuned...

I have a similar thing in my nexus s since I got ICS last weekend. Newsrob hangs somewhere and drains my battery. In the system report it used 60% today. I'll get some screen shots when I get home. Had the same thing yesterday but not Monday. Difference was I used newsrob on commute but not on Monday.

Can I get you any logs or otherwise?

I also have a Nexus S with ICS and don't see that.

So it would be great if you could explain the symptoms in detail. What
is a hang?

It would be great if you could turn on logging (check the FAQ). But
don't send me the newsrob log itself, but when logging is turned on
NewsRob also logs to the system log. I want that one, because I hope
to find a correlation to some other system event. It may be that
NewsRob is the source of the trouble, but as it worked before the
upgrade to ICS and ICS is meant to get a fix b/o battery consumption
issues, I'd like to see what's happening around NewsRob too.

To send me the system log you can use the free Log Collector app from
the Android Market. Please send the log directly to me as it likely
contains information that you don't want on the internet, e.g. urls
maybe even passwords. You should use Log Collector directly after you
first find out that you see a "hang".

I've had no hangs on my Galaxy Nexus. One thing I would like is an
option to change the color of the LED notification flash.
