Wild Herb captured on 13/8/10 during the trek from Ghangaria (around 11,000 ft.) to Hemkunt Sahib (around 14000 ft.).

... a wild guess ... could be far away from reality ... some species of Baliospermum ?

To me it looks like some species of Polygonaceae, closest I can go is Rumex, but never seen such leaves.

... many thanks Gurcharan ji ... same thought occurred to me after your analysis of Garg ji's herb (13/8/10 Ghangaria).
But of course, not familiar with Rumex plants except one sighted at Naldehra ... Rumex vesicarius growing in a gregarious patch !!

After thought, I think it may be Rheum spiciforme.

What about Rheum australe? I had seen similar plant which was IDed as that.

Satish ji
Rheum australe (syn: R. emodi) is a species with distinct stem leaves and panicle inflorescence.

To me appears more closer to images at Rheum webbianum Royle rather than those at Rheum spiciforme
