Hello everyone,
I really like the idea of a dubbed version of Addendum and Moving
Forward. As we all know, whenever we sit down to watch Addendum with a
friend, the kanji is so difficult, the concept is so strange, and the
subject matter is so deep. A new person watching the videos struggles
to keep up and often gives up watching the film. So many times I have
given someone a DVD and when I talk to them later they say, "Oh, it
was very difficult, I can't understand." A dubbed version of the films
would help to portray the ideals of the Movement without making it so
difficult to understand.
With regards to the new film "Moving Forward", The unorthodox and
crippling method of translating with which we have been asked to work
under is greatly hindering our progress with translating the new film.
Where as, I agree that having professionals translate the film would
be nice. I do not agree that it would be better than the collaborative
efforts of volunteer translators, both amateur and professionals , who
have a better understanding of the material that is being presented.
If we were able to work with the entire transcript then things would
go much smoother and we could get it done.
The current transcript translation status. Moving Forward has 3
parts(final version may have 4). There are 76 pages that would need to
be translated by the 28th of December for us to have Japanese
subtitles on our DVD for the showings on January 15. We have completed
a total of 6 pages. It is not likely that we will meet our deadline.
If we had access to the whole transcript for Moving Forward, what tool
or platform would you prefer for working collaboratively?
Google.Documents? DotSub?
Until we DO find and decide on a professional service(again I don't
think we need it.) we should continue with our own translation
efforts. If we decide to hire a professional translation service and
we have a quote on the cost of services, we can set up a transparent
donation. This for example
http://zmjp.chipin.com/zmjpnet-hosting-and-domain
(NOTE: I am not asking anyone to pay for anything, this is just an
example.).
Anyways, this is a lot of information. Please let me know your
thoughts. Feel free to summarize and translate into Japanese.
Thank you.
