Subject: My Playlists From: Stacy J. Garcia So I know some of you are wondering what is going on with the playlist for Sunshine n Line. I removed it because it was copied by someone who then published it on another website and that website stated my work was not proprietary so they would not remove it. They have also taken my work in the past and I am not happy! I feel like my work (thank you to all the DJ's who provide me with the info) is very proprietary and I spend hours compiling the information for you, the dancers. But I do not want my lists published on other websites, especially without my permission.
I am working on a plan to try and make my lists more secure which may unfortunately make it more difficult for you but since the website in question does not know the meaning of integrity, ethics, or moral my choices are limited.
I am working on a new and improved list for Sunshine n Line which I hope to have completed and available by Feb 28th. I think you will really like it. I will make an announcement when it is available.

Subject: LIMELIGHT AWARDS The survey is attached. Simply click the link and begin voting! Voting for Phase 1 begins TODAY and ends April 26th, 2026, 11:59 pm PST. You may only vote ONCE in Phase 1, so please be sure to review your answers before you submit. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/thelinelightawards
The goal of the LINELIGHT AWARDS™ is to complement the other fantastic line dance award circuits, such as the Crystal Boot Awards, Line Dance Association Awards, etc., but with a focus on choreographers from North America (the United States of America, Canada, & Mexico). In fact, the UK and Australia have their own separate line dance awards, as well, so why not North America?!
Every line dancer around the world is eligible to vote – all voting in Phase 1 is currently free-response. You will see awards specifically for line dancers in North America [(USA), (CAN), and (MEX) per Copperknob], and you will also see some awards for our amazing international line dancers [outside of the (USA), (CAN), and (MEX)], but the majority of the awards are designed to honor our accomplished and under-represented North American line dancers.
Thank YOU for taking the time to vote in the survey and helping us honor our North American line dancers so they may finally step into the linelight!

Long background story if you are interested (you are not required to read this in order to vote lol)…
“Be the change you want to see in the world.” This is something that I’ve always taken to heart… it is the driving force that has led me to most of my decisions in life.
When I first ventured into line dancing, I had no idea what a niche, yet vast world I was stepping into (literally) -- a community filled with so many wonderful people, dancers, and creatives.
After my first line dancing experience, I was hooked; all I wanted to do was learn as many dances as possible so I could spend more time on the dance floor. I spent most nights practicing and teaching myself from YouTube, and I also went to every line dance lesson in town (Dustin was actually my first line dance instructor). The dances I spent so many hours learning had no meaning to me at the time. I didn’t even know who choreographed them, nor did I consider the kind of process it took to choreograph them, and I certainly didn’t know stepsheets existed haha. I never once thought about what was actually going on behind the scenes from both the choreographer’s perspective and the instructors who made it possible for me to enjoy these dances.
Now, as a choreographer myself, I see the line dance world in an entirely new light. I have a deeper understanding of the painstaking process of choreography… the time, effort, and dedication it takes to create a line dance from scratch… the trial and error, the counting and sequencing, the stepsheet-writing and demo-making… it is an immense undertaking and an accomplishment to be extremely proud of once the dance is completed.
I also more fully understand the work it takes to instruct line dances… the research and practice it requires to teach a line dance in a way that makes the steps attainable and supports all of the learners, that encourages dancers to keep trying, and that honors the choreography and choreographer(s) in the process.
So, with 9 years of line dancing under my belt (which is still so little), I see this wonderful world of line dancing very differently from how I saw it in the beginning. And most importantly, I now see so many deserving, respected line dance choreographers, instructors, and representatives who work passionately behind the scenes and on stage to maintain and grow the line dancing community, especially in North America.
And I also believe these amazing line dancers, choreographers, and instructors from the United States, Canada, and Mexico are vastly under-represented when it comes to line dance awards. As I said at the start… be the change you want to see in the world. So with that, I present the LINELIGHT AWARDS™, the first annual North-American-centric line dance awards circuit aimed at honoring our amazing line dance representatives in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, utilizing Copperknob as our source of truth.
Please take a look at the attached survey and vote for your favorites! I understand that there may be some hesitation with a new awards circuit, but I think that many of us can agree that there are so many beloved North American choreographers, dancers, and instructors who deserve the opportunity to be recognized for their hard work, creativity, and passion.
It is my pleasure to start the process of making this happen, and helping our North American line dance representatives step into the linelight!

How to Vote in the Weekly Survey List up to 8 of your favorites with choreographer and level if you know it and email to me at tka...@aol.com before 6:30 PM EDT on Sunday. Please add the choreographer and level of the dance if you know it. |
Reminder from Carol Please do not number the votes 1-8, send me extra things, or put the name on one line and the other information on another line, it saves me time because I have to erase all extra things and spacing and formatting before I can sort. Thanks, as always, for your votes. Classes, socials, and events are starting again and we NEED to know what dances most people will know or want to know so your vote is important. |
