Subject: FLORIDA CLASSIC REPORT:

I can’t believe it is Friday already and I haven’t written about last weekend.  I had company and then I came down with a bad cold but I’m recovering!  Anyway, I had a great time last weekend and there were so many good dances taught.  The ones I took were:

Bigger Picture by Darren Bailey (an uplifting song with a fun dance that I think will be very popular.) https://www.copperknob.co.uk/stepsheets/203682/bigger-picture

Banjo Boogie by Scott Blevins, Bradley Mather, and Jo Szymanski was a fun one. I don’t see a sheet for this one posted.

Can’t Stop This (by Shane and Fred) taught by Rachael.  This is a really fun dance and she did a great job teaching it.  It is not easy and it is not slow but it IS worth taking the time to learn.  I loved it.  https://www.copperknob.co.uk/stepsheets/203320/cant-stop-this

No Survivors by Trevor and Guyton is a really doable, fun, funky dance.  I really liked it.

https://www.copperknob.co.uk/stepsheets/203810/no-survivors

The Fall: A new one by Rachael that is very nice. https://www.copperknob.co.uk/stepsheets/205187/the-fall

Things I Regret by Darren Bailey, Debbie Rushton, Mike Liadouze, Fred Whitehouse, and Guillaume Richard.  A beautiful dance that lots of people mentioned they loved and so do I.  https://www.copperknob.co.uk/stepsheets/204714/things-i-regret

On Saturday I took Double Up – one of my favorites of the weekend.  It is so fast and so fun.  I hope you learn it because you will like it. https://www.copperknob.co.uk/stepsheets/203415/double-up

I didn’t take this lesson but really liked the look of Off the Track and a couple of people told me it was a favorite in their class.  It is by Vane, Lewis, Jones, Fowler and Brown).  https://www.copperknob.co.uk/stepsheets/203007/off-the-track

Rachael Taught a new one called Laugh Til I Cry and it looked like fun.  https://www.copperknob.co.uk/stepsheets/204572/laugh-til-i-cry

Roy and Fiona taught Golden X which is already doing very well.   You will like it.  https://www.copperknob.co.uk/stepsheets/203125/golden-x

Rob Holley taught an oldie but goodie, Electric Church by Rachael and Johanna Barnes.   I have always loved that dance.  https://www.copperknob.co.uk/stepsheets/130024/electric-church

John Robinson taught Don’t Click Play by Guillaume Richard, Christ Jacques, and Debbie Rushton on Sunday and this is another one doing very well on the surveys.  We do it in our class and it’s fun.

I took a review lesson from Dustin Betts of All Shook Up and now I can do it!  LOL.  https://www.copperknob.co.uk/stepsheets/158382/all-shook-up

Cody taught Now or Never by Kathy Hunyadi on Sunday and this dance is a classic! https://www.copperknob.co.uk/stepsheets/32855/now-or-never

I would like some feedback from the people who were concentrating on beginner and improver dances so I can add them to this list.  There is only one of me so I tend to take the int-adv dances but there were some very good easier ones done in the demos.

I ALWAYS WATCH THE USLDCC COMPETITION.  Here are the qualifying winners and congratulations to everyone who participated.  I’m glad I wasn’t judging because there were some good dances.

USLDCC WINNERS:

 Beg/Imp

1st     Frederick Hodgin, Donna Fox, and Lynn Luccisano Cowboys do it               Better

2nd    Connor Purcell and W.I.L.D., She Got my Head Spinnin'

Int-Adv

1st     Ray Okuda, My Heart Goes

2nd    Raquel Reynolds, Lose Your Breath

Phrased

1st    Frederick Hodgin, Pistol & Holster

2nd   Cody James Lutz, Dumb

Another thing done at this event that I just love is the Arline Winerman Pro-Am Event that The Roses have done such a wonderful job to keep it going and so many people participate.  The special thing about it is that you are judged on how YOU do the dance and not against other people.  It is great way to introduce people to just being able to dance in front of an audience and get out of their comfort zone and they just do a fabulous job.  You can ask any instructor to dance with you whether it is your instructor or some well-known instructor on the circuit and just do it!  Think about joining next year and thanks to The Roses for all the work they have done to grow this activity each year.  Arline would be so happy.

Well, that covers most of the dance highlights, but we all love this hotel with the beautiful tree in the lobby every year and the friendly staff.  I would say they got the air conditioning fixed because I certainly wasn’t hot.  LOL.  When I’m comfortable I’m sure all of you are freezing and I was even chilly a couple of times.

Be sure add this event to your calendar for next year – December 3-7, 2026.  I promise you will have fun and what is better than winter in Florida!  Come early or stay a few extra days and go to the parks and you can even ask Jen and Cody about arranging that part of your trip so it will be totally painless!

How to Vote in the Weekly Survey

List up to 8 of your favorites with choreographer and level if you know it and email to me at tka...@aol.com before 6:30 PM EDT on Sunday. Please add the choreographer and level of the dance if you know it.

Reminder from Carol

Please do not number the votes 1-8, send me extra things, or put the name on one line and the other information on another line, it saves me time because I have to erase all extra things and spacing and formatting before I can sort. Thanks, as always, for your votes. Classes, socials, and events are starting again and we NEED to know what dances most people will know or want to know so your vote is important.
