SUBJECT: 2025 MOST PLAYED DANCES IN MAIN BALLROOM in UK & EU with VIDEOS has been updated
FROM: Stacy J Garcia, stacy...@gmail.com, https://worldlinedancenewsletter.com/event-playlists.html
This shows how many events the dances were played at, along with total plays.
*From the following 8 UK & EU events: Newline, World Dance Masters, FestiLine (France), Springtime Shenanigans (Northern Ireland), Southport, Danish Line Dance Party, Crystal Boots Awards, Strictly 19.
Subject: Please Read This from a DJ about making requests for dance. This was posted on Facebook and had lots of feedback because I don't think a lot of us think to do the math when music is played at events. This person was writing about his experience at a club so don't write me about the songs he mentioned but it really applies to all venues as does being nice to your DJs and instructors, I might add. That will be a topic for a different day. Good morning, good afternoon, good evening.
today I'd like to do a quick lesson on music math and perhaps song request etiquette.
so, there are 60 mins in an hour, that allows me to play 20 3 min songs, now not every song in our play list is exactly 3 mins long,
for example,
cupid shuffle 3.55, hotel room service 3.58, wave on wave 3.58, a little party 4.01, whip it 4.03, i see country 4.05, green light 4.07, whiskey drinkin SOB 4.23, shake that 4.35...
are all close to 4mins or longer, that means if i play those 9 songs, that is a total of 37 mins of playing time. that only leaves me with 23 minutes of play time left in that hour for any other songs. that equates to roughly 7 more songs in that one hour.
so, i started with potentially 20 songs i could play, now i'm down to 16. typically most songs are at least 3 mins to 3.5 mins. so anything over 3 minutes means i play less songs per hour. another example, the Wobble is a 5 1/2 min song.
this means all of the DJs have to juggle 16-20 songs per hour and accommodate any and all requests that come in.
so now comes the song request etiquette portion, if you come in at say 1030pm, do you think by chance we've already played a good portion of the most requested songs by then? most likely.
does this mean we're going to ignore all the other requests from people who got there before you just so you can hear footloose/shivers/fake ID again? most likely not.
if we've already played that song, don't get mad at us because we wont play it again, we get too many requests per night to accommodate everyone. if its a song request that we haven't played yet and others have requested it as well, then i will tell you its coming up soon.
we do our best to play most of the song requests but sometimes there just isn't enough time. and you coming in late to the bar, well, poor time management on your part, does not constitute an emergency on mine.
if this post has offended you in any way, sorry but these are the facts.
so be kind to your DJs, bartenders, waitstaff, bouncers... we're all working so you can have a good time.

How to Vote in the Weekly Survey List up to 8 of your favorites with choreographer and level if you know it and email to me at tka...@aol.com before 6:30 PM EDT on Sunday. Please add the choreographer and level of the dance if you know it. |
Reminder from Carol Please do not number the votes 1-8, send me extra things, or put the name on one line and the other information on another line, it saves me time because I have to erase all extra things and spacing and formatting before I can sort. Thanks, as always, for your votes. Classes, socials, and events are starting again and we NEED to know what dances most people will know or want to know so your vote is important. |
