Subject: TIME TO VOTE IN THE World Line Dance Newsletter Weekly Survey! List up to 8 of your favorites and email to me at tka...@aol.com by 6:30 pm Sunday (same as NY time). Thanks for taking the time to vote! Here is last week's survey results: https://worldlinedancenewsletter.com/survey.html Subject: Queen City Line Dance Classic Review (Charlotte, North Carolina) FROM: Jodi Harmon Finally recovered enough in brain and body to write this review of Queen City Line Dance Classic:
Craig & Donna Statt are to be congratulated for putting on a first-rate first-time event. I attended the entire event, from Wednesday to Monday, and this will be an annual event for me!
I preface these comments by saying that open dance at night is the #1 priority for me at events. In fact, I typically only take a few classes during the entire event, opting to dance all night and sleep most of the day instead. So with that in mind:
OPEN DANCING:
The playlist each night was stellar. Very few repeats, LOTS of classics, ALL my requests were played. I couldn't ask for more!
The beginning of each night was not the same old Lonely Drum, Ain't Misbehavin', etc. Rather, dances we often see only late night at other events were played early here: Have Fun Go Mad, Hairspray, Wom Bom Bom, Nu Flow and more.
Having the upcoming dances on the DJ app is fantastic for planning ahead, pacing ourselves, etc.
I made the survivor photo all three nights — something I have not done in years — which is evidence of how fabulous the playlist was.
SATURDAY NIGHT:
The best thing about this event for me: No show, awards, long raffles, prolonged sitting -- just dancing! Given the choice between a show -- which ties up an enormous amount of the choreographers' time and energy during the weekend rendering them too tired to dance at night -- and having them on the dance floor with us at night, I'd choose the latter.
Nothing thrills me more than dancing with a choreographer to one of their dances, and we had this opportunity numerous times all weekend, often into the wee hours. (I got to dance my faves, Follow Me with Darren Bailey and Mirrors with Will Craig & Amy Bailey)
Last but certainly not least, it was terrific to see Will Craig after many years. I hope this means we will be seeing more of him. We had fun testing his memory with Helium, H.O.L.Y., That Love, Round & Round (by Will & Guyton Mundy - check that one out if you have never seen it)
BALLROOMS:
Having Big Dave's main ballroom and Tina Foster's all request room literally next to each other made it so much easier on our feet to dance in both rooms.
Excellent dance floors and perfect temps in the ballrooms all weekend.
HOTEL:
The hotel was recently renovated and seemed brand new. Rooms were spacious with closets, plenty of hangers, super clean and modern. Coffee maker and microwave in every room.
Craig & Donna, kudos to you and your staff, and thank you again for a truly fantastic weekend. I wouldn't change a thing. Sign me up for QCLD 2027!!
