Hi there,
I have a situation which came up on the weekend I would like to clarify.

I attempted a pass to Player A, who was stationary about 20 meters in front of me. The disc caught the wind and went over his head. Defender B saw this and came in from behind Player A grab a D. But the disc continued with the wind to fly over Defender B. As Defender B turned to chase the disc Player A collided with them also trying to chase the disc down. The disc came down to Player C who was standing behind both the players.
Defender B called a foul which was uncontested by Player A, which should have resulted in a turnover to Defender B. However, from my perspective the defender would not have been able to make a play on the disc before Player C caught it. I therefore asked Player A to contest the foul on the grounds that it probably did not affect the play and that the disc coming back to the thrower was the fairest outcome.

Was this strictly correct? The rules interpretations 17.5 - 17.7 skirt around this particular case without hitting it directly.

Cheers,
Nick Pannu

If a foul did not affect the outcome of the play and is not dangerous, it
should be withdrawn. So it should have stayed with Player C. However, if
Player B does not want to withdraw the foul, then someone can contest it
(someone who saw that it did not affect play - probably not Player A since
it went over their heads).

That's off the top of my head, not sure if it's strictly as per the rules.
